Saturday Night Live: Julia Stiles Makes Surprise Appearance for Save the Last Dance Joke

Save the Last Dance star Julia Stiles made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Saturday evening live another surprise appearance tonight, with none other than Julia Stiles appearing on Weekend Update for a hilarious moment. The 2001 film was released in recent weeks Save the last dance has gone viral, largely because of how ridiculous it seems at first glance. For those who don’t know, Julia Stiles starred in the film as a dancer who fails to get into Juilliard, but then manages to learn something about herself and the world after moving to Chicago, where she street dances in records her ballet routine. As you can imagine, this moment in 2023 hasn’t aged particularly well.

On tonight’s episode of Saturday evening live, cast member Chloe Fineman was brought in to talk about the Christmas season. Fineman first appeared in an outfit that perhaps implied she would be talking about some naughty gifts you could give your partner, taking off her Santa Claus outfit to wear a replica of Julia Stiles’ costume from Save the Last Dance to reveal, where she then explained the film and began to perform the “street ballet” routine. As the dance reaches its climax, and both Colin Jost and Michael Che wonder if Sara will make it into Julliard thanks to her “street ballet,” only Julia Stiles enters the set and confirms that yes, she does.

“Sarah did come into contact with Julliard,” Julia Stiles reveals. To the question “How?” by Colin she remarks, “Well, you didn’t see the end of the dance.” Julia Stiles and Chloe Fineman then complete the routine to applause. When asked what he thinks, Colin completes the joke by saying, “Well, I can’t say this officially yet, but welcome to Julliard.” You can watch the moment for yourself below.
