SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton teases guest appearance on Home and Away: ‘I’ve been watching it since I was a kid’

He is known as SAS Australia’s tough instructor.

And now British-born Ant Middleton, 46, has revealed he wants to test his acting skills with a role in Channel Seven’s long-running soap opera Home and Away.

The former Special Forces soldier made the startling admission during an interview on the Reload TV podcast earlier this month.

“I’m a big fan of Home and Away,” Ant admitted, telling host Benjamin Norris that he’d been watching the soap since he was “a kid.”

“I’d be honored to play a part in Home and Away,” he said, adding, “Never say never, right?”

Ant, who is best known for his brutal training technique at SAS Australia, also spoke about his new role as host of Million Dollar Island.

Created by the team behind Wife Swap and Big Brother, the reality series sees 100 contestants compete for $1 million in a survival game set on a remote island.

And Ant said the new show has brought out his “softer” side, in which he helps contestants learn survival techniques so they survive the tough conditions of the competition.

“Whoever you see of me on Million Dollar is the majority of me,” he said.

‘It’s who I really am. I’m a family man, I like helping people, I like getting the best out of people,” he continued.

“On Million Dollar Island you get to see the real me more than you do on SAS.”

Meanwhile, Ant previewed the upcoming season of SAS Australia when he appeared on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa with Katie Richie earlier this week.

The SAS presenter said: ‘It’s brutal, there are some very interesting characters in it, especially the psychological side of how people work.

“There is real psychological undoing and rebuilding going on,” he continued.

“A couple of people wanted to quit pretty early and I said, ‘No, I’m not done with you yet.'”

While some of the upcoming season’s contestants have been released, Channel 7 has not confirmed an air date, but it is expected to be in September or October.

The 2023 series will star boxer Anthony Mundine, former Roosters captain Boyd Cordner and Olympian Peter Bol, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
