SAS Australia: Convicted drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury earns massive salary for show after serving time in a Colombian prison

‘Cocaine Cassie’ Sainsbury has been offered a six-figure salary to appear in the latest season of SAS Australia which premiered on Monday night.

Convicted drug smuggler, 28, returned to Australia last year after her release from the notorious El Buen Pastor prison in Colombia in 2020.

A source has revealed ahead of this week’s premiere that the failed gym owner is one of the ‘highest paid actors this year’ A new idea.

Meanwhile, the rest of the crew, which includes soccer players, reality stars and Olympians, will take home a fraction of Casey’s salary.

Most contestants will receive $30,000 to take part in grueling physical and psychological challenges set by former Special Forces soldiers.

‘Cassie struggled. It’s hard for her to find a job… her CV is not for everyone,” the source said.

They went on to reveal that she was “very excited” to film the Ant Middleton-hosted show, which took place in the Middle East this year.

It comes after Cassie revealed she feared for her life as she spent three years in a Colombian prison after being arrested in April 2017.

The convicted drug smuggler returned to Australia last year after being released from the notorious El Buen Pastor prison in Colombia in 2020.

Then she was caught trying to leave the country with 5.8 kg of cocaine in her luggage.

The drug dealer-turned-influencer said she was stabbed and beaten multiple times by inmates.

Speaking to Kate Ritchie about her appearance on the new season of SAS Australia’s Fitzy and Whippa, she said: “(SAS) was nothing I expected.

“Obviously everyone goes into the SAS thinking it’s not hard straight away, but I was transferred straight back to prison.”

Host Ryan Fitzgerald asked: ‘Were there any moments where you feared for your life in prison?’

‘Definitely. I had a lot of beatings. They beat me a lot. I was stabbed. I got two stab wounds on my arms where I was stabbed,’ answered Cassie.

Cassie was sentenced to six years behind bars at El Buen Pastor prison for attempted smuggling, but served only three before being released on parole for two years.
