Sarah Michelle Gellar shares touching tribute to her friend of 30 years Shannen Doherty – two days after her death at age 53 following breast cancer battle
Sarah Michelle Gellar paid a moving tribute to her late friend Shannen Doherty, who passed away on Saturday, July 13 at the age of 53 due to complications from breast cancer.
The 47-year-old actress sent a loving message to Shannen, along with photos of them together.
Sarah wrote: ‘How do you find the right words to sum up 30 years of friendship?’
“I keep reminding myself that it only hurts so much because there was so much love. Thank you for all your kind words and support.”

Her announcement comes just two days after Shannen’s death at age 53 after a nine-year battle with breast cancer.
Shannen’s publicist Leslie Sloane announced her passing in a statement Sunday: “On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after battling the disease for many years.”
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog Bowie. The family requests their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
Sophie Perry, Luke Perry’s daughter, shared a sweet snap of her dad with Shannen on her Instagram stories on Sundau.
Shannen and Luke, who died of a stroke in 2019 at age 52, played romantic partners Brenda and Dylan on 90210.
Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea on the iconic series, also mentioned Luke in her tribute to Shannen.
“I know Luke is waiting for you with open arms to love you,” her tribute read, as reported by People.
As recently as February of this year, Doherty became emotional as she recounted the moment she learned of Perry’s death during a panel discussion at MegaCon Orlando.
