Sarah Michelle Gellar Confirms Dolly Parton Was A ‘Secret Producer’ On Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed a rumor that county music icon Dolly Parton was a secret producer on her hit series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his new supernatural teen drama series Wolf Packthe actress revealed to the host: “Little known fact. The legend, Dolly Parton was a producer,” in reference to Buffy.

Gellar maintained that Parton was an uncredited producer who was never actually seen on set during the seven seasons between 1997 and 2003; first on The WB and then on UPN.

Despite not establishing relationships prior to the start of the show, Gellar told Fallon that the Jolene star went out of her way to make the cast feel special, which included giving her and others “Christmas presents at first that would have our name on it, and I’d think, ‘She doesn’t even know who I am.'”

Gellar went on to draw up the connection between Parton and the series by revealing that the production company of the singer-songwriter I Will Always Love You, Sandollar Productions, which she founded with her friend Sandy Gallin, had a stake in the franchise dating back to when it was created by first time. a 1992 film of the same name.

The company also helped produce the BTVS spin-off Angel.

Gellar, who serves as star and executive producer on Wolf Pack, was also asked if she had any doubts about returning to the supernatural genre following her high-profile role on Buffy.

After joking about the difference between vampires and wolves, Gellar confessed that “there’s always doubt because it’s hard to have something to compare it to as well.”

She revealed that the Wolf Pack takes place during the Los Angeles fires, before going into more detail, adding, “But on a deeper level it’s about anxiety.” It’s about finding your pack and your people.

The Cruel Intentions student explained that it is two teenagers “who are bitten when all the animals come out during the fires” and “they find two other teenagers who turn into werewolves.”

The Long Island native plays a detective charged with investigating the appearance of werewolves in her town, in a cast that also includes Chloe Rose Robertson, Bella Shepard, Armani Jackson, Tyler Lawrence Gray and Rodrigo Santoro, among others.

Created by Jeff Davis and based on a book of the same name by Canadian author Edo van Belkom, Wolf Pack premiered on Paramount+ on January 26.
