Tragedy as ‘loving, hardworking’ mum-of-two Sarah Maas is killed in horror smash at Lower Chittering around the corner from where the family were building their dream home
A mother of two teenagers was killed in a head-on collision just around the corner from where her family was building their dream home.
Sarah Maas’ white Toyota Camry collided with a Jeep Cherokee around 5:10 a.m. on Thursday, whose 54-year-old male driver also died.
The tragedy occurred on Muchea East Road in Lower Chittering, Western Australia, 60 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth.
The 47-year-old was “a hardworking, loving mother and loving wife to her husband, who now misses her dearly,” her cousin Nathan Maas said after the accident.
Mr Maas made a plea for road safety as he paid tribute to his aunt. ‘Be careful on the roads.

“(The) best thing we can all do is keep an eye on the roads and do our best not to be idiots,” he told 9News.
“(There are) now two families (whose) parents are not coming home.”
Mrs Maas, who had been married to a farmer for 18 years, was on her way to work at a local petrol station but had turned around shortly before the accident.
The police do not believe that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs or was using his mobile phone at the time of the accident.
Sarah’s niece Darlene Tuffin posted a tribute on Facebook, saying: ‘Rest in peace, you will be missed by all and sending love to both families involved.’
