Rising political star suddenly found dead aged 45
A rising political star and three-time mayor has been found dead in her home at the age of 45.
Victoria Police confirmed the death of Sarah Carter, 45, on Tuesday.
It was said that her death was not being treated as suspicious.
She was a well-known member of the Australian Labor Party and was elected mayor of Maribyrnong, a suburb in Melbourne’s west, three times in 2011, 2020 and 2022.
Mrs. Carter’s cause of death is not yet known.
Ms Carter had only returned earlier this week from her holiday to ‘remote communities on the islands of Santo and Malekula in Vanuatu’.
“Vanuatu is known to be one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to the impacts of climate change and disasters. We were able to see first-hand the impact that resilience and adaptation initiatives are having on communities through Australia’s bilateral and multilateral development programs,” she said of the trip.
More to come.
