Sarah Beeny shares a sweet post for her stroke-addled dad’s birthday after her breast cancer battle
Sarah Beeny shared a sweet birthday post with her dad Richard on Monday – after he suffered a stroke six years ago.
The TV presenter, 51, also revealed in April that she had been given everything safe in her fight against breast cancer – after finishing chemotherapy in February.
And on Monday, she celebrated the good news with her dad, revealing he could come home to celebrate his birthday.
Sarah snapped a happy selfie with Richard as he lay in bed and took the opportunity by wearing a party hat.
She wrote alongside the post: My dad is getting in the party mood for his birthday!!

‘Thank you so much to the utterly brilliant @candlelightcareservices for enabling him to be home where he wants to be – forever in your debt xx’
Meanwhile, her dad Richard looked comfortable as he lay in bed, also smiling for his milestone celebration.
Last year, Sarah revealed she had no intention of telling her father about her breast cancer diagnosis, in case he mistakes her for her late mother who died of the disease.
Her mother – who was her father Richard’s first wife – died of the disease when Sarah was just 10 years old.
Sarah confessed that she doesn’t want to confuse her father by telling him about her diagnosis, as he suffers from ‘forgetfulness’ after suffering a stroke six years ago.
She said The Telegraph: ‘Sometimes he knows who I am, sometimes he doesn’t remember.
“He knows that his first wife died of breast cancer. He mixes up a lot of things and my fear is that I tell him, and tell him I’ll be fine, but he’d remember I had it, but not that I’d get better. He would think I was my mother.’
The presenter was diagnosed with breast cancer in August last year and in April revealed she had been given everything safely while performing on Lorraine.

She shared the positive news during an emotional interview alongside her two sons Billy, 18, and Raffa, 14.
Speaking to deputy presenter Christine Lampard, Sarah shared that she is now cancer-free as she reflects on her ‘rollercoaster’ journey with the disease.
When asked about her health, Christine said, “Just a few days ago you got the all-clear.
“I know you will always worry and you will always be aware of your body, but to hear those words at this point is a beautiful thing.”
Sarah then confirmed the good news, saying, “It’s okay, it’s weird.” It’s a bit like her [the doctors] go “that’s it then” and that’s the end.
And you say ‘how do you know’, and they say ‘well we don’t know, we just think so’. It’s a weird ending – you feel like there has to be a moment.’
Sarah explained that while she is now cancer-free, she will have to continue taking medication for the next ten years and will have to be “very vigilant.”
She added: “I mean it’s ongoing – I have to be on drugs for the next 10 years and be very vigilant. But it’s been a weird ride that I wouldn’t wish on anyone else.’

Sarah admitted it had been a ‘rollercoaster’ but said she felt ‘lucky’ to get her diagnosis when she did what she praised for the NHS.
“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride,” she added. “But I’m lucky to have received the diagnosis I’ve been given, and to be alive in 2023 and to be the age I am. So many things I’m lucky enough to do, so I feel very blessed.”
In March, Sarah revealed that her new platinum hair was dyed by her son after her breast cancer treatment.
The mother-of-four shaved her hair after clumps fell out when she started chemotherapy last year.
After it started growing back, Sarah took to Instagram to post a series of snaps documenting the process of her hair transformation.
One image showed her son grinning as he applied the dye to her hair, while another revealed the product she was using.
She wrote: “Thank you for all your sweet lovely comments on my last post – Unfortunately my hair [is] natural hair not platinum blonde…..!!!!’
In February, she had announced she was done with chemotherapy by sharing a photo of her son’s band’s CD cover.

In the summer of 2022, Sarah shared the news that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump, which led to a biopsy.
She was told the cancer had not spread and “there is an 80 percent chance of a cure.”
Sarah gave in that she had always suspected she would get the disease and had “waited 40 years to hear those words” after her mother Ann died of cancer at age 39.
Sarah also revealed that her mother’s death has deeply affected her and that her own illness has “opened a tinderbox of stuff” that she has “swept under the carpet” for a long time.
While Sarah didn’t want to make a “big deal” about telling her kids her cancer news, she said she considered not telling her husband after 20 years “so it didn’t seem real.”
The Property Ladder presenter shares sons Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12, with husband Graham Swift.
Sarah has previously spoken openly about losing her mother at a young age, telling the Daily Mail in 2020: ‘Death is hard for a child to hold their own but I was close to Diccon [my brother] and my father, and go on and on.’
“The only positive thing about losing her when I was so young is that she will always be perfect to me.”
