NFL fans, and especially Giants fans, jeered Saquon Barkley on Monday night after the Eagles running back made a costly mistake in his team’s loss to the Falcons.
The Eagles led 18-15 with 1:46 left when they faced a decisive 3rd and 3. The Falcons had no timeouts left and if they had had one more conversion, Philly could have stalled out the clock.
Barkley appeared to turn the corner with an easy pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts, but dropped the ball, stopping the clock and creating space for Atlanta to eventually pull out a stunning 22-21 victory after Philly had to settle for a field goal.
The former Giants star, playing in his first game at Lincoln Financial Field since signing with his new team during the offseason, was extensively trolled on X after the game.
“Saquon Barkley loses games for the Eagles and it puts a smile on my face,” said one wrote.

And another fan shared a video of a dog relieving himself on the ground, with the caption: ‘Saquon Barkley when the Eagles needed him most’
Barkley had never won a game in Philadelphia in his six seasons with the Giants.
Moreover, ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan pointed out that Barkley has recorded 16 drops since the start of the 2021 season — the most of any NFL running back.
After the game, Barkley took the blame for the Eagles’ loss.

Barkley and the Eagles will try to get back on track next week at the Saints.
