Saoirse Ronan stuns in a figure-hugging white gown as she leads her co-stars at the world premiere of her film Blitz at BFI London Film Festival

Saoirse Ronan turned heads in a white dress as she attended the world premiere of her new film Blitz during the opening night of the 68th BFI London Film Festival on Wednesday.

The actress, 30, looked sensational in the figure-hugging sleeveless dress with a statement chunky belt and high neckline.

Saoirse elevated her figure with a pair of sky-high heels and styled her long locks in a neat, slicked-back hairstyle.

The Brooklyn star turned heads as she posed for photos on the star-studded red carpet held at the Royal Festival Hall.

She appeared in good spirits as she stopped to sign autographs with fans before beaming for selfies.

She later posed with Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen, who was smartly dressed in a white button-up shirt and a long black coat.

Meanwhile, her co-star music legend Paul Weller cut a dapper figure in a gray suit and navy blue checked shirt as he posed with his wife Hannah.

Mica Ricketts looked incredible as she put on a leggy show in a black velvet off-the-shoulder dress with a daring thigh-high slit.

The actress elevated her body with a pair of black heels and accessorized with a chunky pearl necklace.

Elsewhere, CJ Beckford dressed cool in a yellow sleeveless cargo jacket that he paired with matching trousers.

Singer Celeste cut a very glamorous figure in a black velvet dress which she paired with a glittering handbag and heels.

The new Apple TV+ film Blitz is directed by Oscar winner Steve McQueen and follows a group of London residents amid the aerial bombardments during the international conflict.

The war film is McQueen’s first feature since the 2018 film Widows.

The synopsis reads: ‘Follow the stories of a group of Londoners during the events surrounding the bombing of the British capital in World War II.’

It comes after Saoirse recently admitted she and husband Jack Lowden had ‘high expectations’ for each other after the couple worked together on her new film.

In The Outrun she plays Rona, a vulnerable young woman in the early stages of recovery who moves to the Orkney Islands after being treated for alcoholism in a residential rehabilitation centre.

A subject close to her heart, the actress – who admits to having seen the impact of addiction on some of her closest friends – also co-produced the film with husband Lowden, whom she married in July.

The couple’s very Scottish ceremony was confirmed by the Register of Scottish Civil Marriages.

And Saoirse says she had a strong creative bond with ‘comrade’ Jack, 34, who she curiously refers to by his full name.

She told me Sunday Times: ‘Jack Lowden and I tried to keep an eye on the representation of Rona, how nothing else matters to her except alcohol, but also the reminder that she is human, so everyone can see themselves in her.

“If you find people you love and trust creatively, why wouldn’t you want to continue working with them?”

‘We have very high expectations of each other. When I tried Rona’s Orcadian accent on him for The Outrun, he said, “You don’t do that, do you?”

The actress admits that she was able to draw on a deep well of experiences while preparing for the role, having been “on the receiving end” of the pain and damage caused by addiction.

She said: “I have seen people I love change because of addiction. There’s a helplessness you feel when you watch someone you love – friends my age and especially someone I’m close to – go through that.

“What will forever be etched in my memory is that switch, when the glaze goes over someone’s eyes and they are gone.

‘If you come second to alcohol you get angry, so for this role I had to put my own feelings about that aside. And I didn’t have to be angry about that anymore.’
