Saoirse Ronan stars in Blitz, an upcoming WWII movie for Apple TV+ and director Steve McQueen.
The American-born Irish actress, 28, will star in the film, which will describe a group of Londoners amid the aerial bombardments during the international conflict, Variety reported Thursday.
The film, announced last fall, will begin shooting later this year, with McQueen directing, writing and producing.

It will feature an “unknown newcomer” in a prominent role, the outlet reported.
Ronan’s career is on the rise, as she can be seen in the upcoming films Foe, a sci-fi thriller starring Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre; and See How They Run, a comedy mystery starring Sam Rockwell.
The Oscar-nominated actress was recently featured in the 2020 Francis Lee films Ammonite and 2019 Little Women, in which she appeared alongside Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Timothée Chalamet.
The war film is McQueen’s first feature film since the 2018 film Widows.
Ronan’s career is on the rise, as she can be seen in the upcoming films Foe, a sci-fi thriller starring Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre; and See How They Run, a comedy mystery starring Sam Rockwell.

In 2020 Ronan worked on Small Axe, a BBC and Amazon Prime Video anthology about the West Indian community in the UK from 1962-1982.
McQueen also directed the World War II documentary Occupied City, which chronicles the events in Amsterdam during the turbulent period.
Blitz could become a highlight of Apple Original Films’ award season, which made streaming history after its film CODA won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
