Santos told donors he produced a Broadway production, as secret audio catches him ADMITTING he ‘lied’

George Santos was caught admitting he “screwed up” and “lied to everyone” in a secret recording released by an aspiring staffer just days after it was revealed the politician claimed he produced a Broadway play.

The 34-year-old New York politician reportedly told donors during his 2021 congressional campaign that he produced Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark, which ran from 2011 to 2014, but the lead producer Michael Cohl disputed these claims.

Santos had been living in Brazil for part of 2011 and had worked at Dish Network between 2011 and 2012 as a customer service representative, according to Bloomberg.

The falsehood is just another lie for Santos to add to his mountain of them. Now his unpaid volunteer Derek Myers, 30, who is also a journalist, has exposed him by admitting to lying in a secret recording taken Monday.

Myers, who claimed he was promised he would be hired as a staff member in Santos’s office, was fired from his DC position on Monday.

At the beginning of the recording, which Myers gave to talking point note (TPM), the glorified inmate bluntly asked Santos if he was being ‘fired’.

Santos looked taken aback and said, ‘I’m sorry? you are not hired [yet].’

Myers was taken to the congressman’s office to discuss his possible employment with Santos and his chief of staff, Charley Lovett, where he was told to “stop going to Colombia for your diluted Botox” and praised the young man’s tie.

During that conversation, Santos admitted to Myers that he had lied about his background, saying: ‘I lied to him. [Lovett] like I lied to everyone else, and yet he forgave me and gave me a second chance, unlike other people, right? [now].

So I trust him ten times more. I trust his judgment more than my own judgment,” he continued. ‘That’s why he’s my chief of staff, right, I wouldn’t be here in this chair if it wasn’t for him because you know how many times during the campaign he stopped me from making stupid decisions?’

Santos also joked that Myers could go to federal prison for seven years for “recording in this building,” but seemed unaware that his volunteer was actually recording him. Myers had not informed either of them that he was recording the conversation. DC is a one-party consent state.

“I’ve never recorded,” Myers can be heard on the tape.

Santos, who seemed unaware of the recording, joked: ‘Have fun at your own risk!’

The issue of wiretapping arose because Myers had previously been accused of it when his Ohio-based newspaper Scioto Valley Guardian obtained a court recording despite the defendant opting not to be recorded.

It was also recently revealed that Santos claimed he was a producer on the Broadway play Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark, but lead producer Michael Cohl (pictured) denied this.

Myers, who was in Colombia receiving Botox when the courtroom recording was recorded, said he obtained the recording from someone who had been in the courtroom that day. Due to the seriousness of the court case, in which a man was charged with eight murders, Myers decided to release the recording and was later charged with wiretapping.

He killed eight people in his sleep, an entire family. We felt at the time that the public should be allowed to hear that testimony,’ Myers defended himself. ‘I can see that it’s concerning to you because you’re saying, ‘Oh, can we trust this guy now?’

Myers said he didn’t even know how to “listen.” Santos, however, said that “it doesn’t worry us, it worries this institution.”

‘I’m thinking to myself: ‘Am I a threat and a concern to this institution?’ “George Santos, you’re George Santos!” Myers told TPM.

Myers was officially fired from Santos’ office on Wednesday by Lovett and Santos’ chief of staff confirmed it was due to concerns about the Ohio case, the young journalist told TPM.

Myers also claimed that Santos had placed “his hand on my left leg, near my knee” before proceeding to “take his hand and move it up my leg to my inner thigh and proceeded to touch my groin” during his short tenure in the DC office

However, Myers begged for his job back a day later, but only spoke to Santos’ chief operating officer, Vish Barra, who helped him get the job. He said he had left behind the second-hand tie that Santos complimented at their meeting on Monday and a mug that read ‘deny everything’.

On Friday, the self-proclaimed media mogul filed a police report with the Capitol Police for sexual harassment, he announced on Twitter. He also filed a complaint with the Congressional Ethics Office against Santos.

“As stated on file, my complaint concerns violations of house ethics in which I was an unpaid volunteer performing staff duties with the promise of employment and compensation, only to be released after several days work without compensation,” he wrote in a lengthy Twitter thread.

Also, my files detail the sexual harassment I endured in the congressman’s office. It is hoped that these matters will be properly addressed by the police and the Ethics Committee, respectively, in due course.”

Myers claimed that his title was labeled ‘voluntary’ until his staff paperwork had been fully processed through the payroll department.

Despite the sexual harassment, the journalist begged for his job on Thursday, but was denied. He said he only spoke to Santos’ chief of operations, Vish Barra (right), to whom he left a second-hand tie and a mega that said ‘deny all’ to give to Santos.

She also claimed that on January 25, Santos had asked her if she “had a Grindr profile” and had “insisted that I sit next to her on the little sofa.” He also claimed that Santos had placed ‘his hand on my left leg, near my knee’ before proceeding to ‘take his hand and move it up my leg to the inner thigh and proceeded to touch my groin’. .

Myers went on to claim in the letter, which she also posted on Twitter, that Santos had told her, “My husband is out of town tonight if you want to come over.”

Santos had claimed during his campaign that he was married and lived with his husband on Long Island. However the daily beast she could not find a marriage record in New York, nor did the politician ever appear on the campaign trail with said husband. He, too, has not been seen wearing a wedding ring since he came to Congress.

However, Santos had previously been married to a woman, whom he divorced in 2019.

DailyMail.com contacted Santos’ attorney, Joseph W. Murray, for comment.
