Sandro Tonali’s £55m move from AC Milan to Newcastle is ‘done and sealed’, with his agent describing it as ‘the perfect project’ for the Italian midfielder
Sandro Tonali’s transfer to Newcastle is reportedly ‘done and sealed’ with the Italian midfielder on the verge of moving to Newcastle in a deal that could be worth around £55m.
It comes as Eddie Howe’s side have been eyeing a move for the promising young star for some time, who played in Italy’s controversial 2-1 Euro U21 defeat to France earlier this week.
The move gained momentum this week after Dan Ashworth, sporting director of the Magpies, was spotted in Milan earlier this week and appears to have reached an agreement that will see the 23-year-old join the Premier League.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the “agreement has been concluded” with the That says an Italian journalist on Twitter: ‘No announcement [will come] this weekend or early next week for Sandro Tonali’s [transfer] to Newcastle for some technical formalities.’
Romano also said: “AC Milan will include a 10 percent sell-on clause in the deal” before adding that the deal was “done and sealed.”

His agent Giuseppe Riso said of the deal: ‘This is an excellent deal, Newcastle is the perfect project for Tonali. Newcastle wanted Sandro as a key signing at all costs.
“He will be a crucial player for Mapgies. This deal also helps the finances of AC Milan and Brescia enormously.’
It comes as Howe’s side look to expand their squad this summer as they prepare for next season’s Champions League football.
They are also in the market for Feyern defender David Hancko, who is seen as a solid cover for their centre-backs, while the Northumberland side are also eyeing Joachim Anderson, but his valuation could be too much for Newcastle.
For Milan, the news also means they now have to look for new talent in midfield, with Romano claiming they are ‘now moving on to new midfielders’ following Tonali’s departure.

Roberto Mancini claimed today that the 23-year-old’s departure was a ‘problem’ for Italian football, claiming: ‘On the one hand there is a bit of regret when a good young player like Tonali leaves Italy means there are some problems . ‘
But he also said: “On a technical level, playing in the Premier League will be useful for Tonali, it’s good for him.”
Since joining San Siro from Brescia in 2020, the Italian midfielder has impressed for the Rossoneri. He made 130 appearances and scored seven goals in all competitions.
This season alone, he made 34 appearances in the league, scoring twice, while also starting in all of Milan’s 12 Champions League matches.
