Sandra Bullock is ‘grateful’ for the ‘incredible’ support following the tragic passing of partner Bryan Randall three weeks earlier after ALS battle

Sandra Bullock is “grateful” for the abundant support just weeks after her partner, Bryan Randall, tragically passed away following a three-year battle with ALS at the age of 57.

The Lost City actress, 59, who plans to scatter the late photographer’s ashes in the Bahamas, has been mourning the loss of the “love of her life” since his death earlier this month on Aug. 5.

A source told People in an article published Friday, the star claims to have seen “the incredible outpouring of support for ALS research since Bryan’s passing.”

“It was very important to her that when she and his family made the initial statement about Bryan’s passing, those who have been on this journey with her and Bryan from the beginning – with Mass General’s Healey Center leading the way,” added the insider.

“She is so grateful to everyone who has donated and is thrilled that something so heartbreaking came out of something so positive for others.”

At the time of his death, Randall’s family issued a statement to People asking for donations in lieu of flowers to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.

A spokesperson for the ALS Association revealed in the publication that the organization saw “an additional $50,000 raised from donors in Bryan’s honor and an increase of more than 100,000 new visitors to our website.”

“We are grateful to everyone who has donated, and our thoughts are with Sandra and Bryan’s family. We still need support to make ALS livable for everyone, everywhere, until we can cure it.’

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a “disease of the nervous system that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” according to Mayo Clinicand currently there is “no cure for this deadly disease.”

In the full statement, the late photographer’s loved ones said, heartbroken, “It is with great sadness that we announce that Bryan Randall passed away peacefully on August 5 after a three-year battle with ALS.”

“Bryan chose early on to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”

The family also gave special kudos to the “tireless doctors who walked with us through the landscape of this disease and to the amazing nurses who became our housemates, often sacrificing their own families to be with us.”

At the same time, Bullock’s sister Gesine Bullock-Prado also mourned the loss of Randall on her Instagram and honored her sister, who has been in a relationship with Randall since 2015.

“I’m convinced Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lures into rushing rivers teeming with salmon,” she began.

“ALS is a cruel disease, but there is some comfort in knowing that he had the best caregivers: my wonderful sister and the group of nurses she put together who helped her care for him in their home,” Bullock-Prado added .

Gesine closed the post writing “Rest in Peace, Bryan,” encouraging donations to both the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.

The Oscar winner first met Bryan, a model-turned-photographer, in 2015, after photographing her son Louis’s birthday.

It came five years after her messy divorce from Jesse James and her heartbreaking love life with other past celebrities like Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

The last public sighting of Sandra and Bryan together was in July 2020. The former model was seen sending a loving look to the actress as they arrived at an intimate gathering in Studio City with her two children.

The Bird Box star was previously married to motorcycle builder Jesse James from 2005 until their divorce was finalized in 2010 following allegations that he had cheated on her.

The award-winning actress has two children: Louis, who she adopted in 2010, and Laila, who she adopted in 2015.

After crossing paths with Bryan in 2015, the couple sparked a budding romance and later took ‘vows’ to each other in the Bahamas in 2017, but never officially married.

After his passing, Sandra plans to say a final goodbye to the man she called the “love of her life” in a place that held a special meaning for both of them, DailyMail.com learned earlier this week.

According to insiders, Bullock is considering returning to the Three Bees in the Bahamas to scatter Randall’s ashes into the sea.

It was at this luxury resort on Harbor Island that, DailyMail.com revealed, she and Randall exchanged “vows” in 2017, just three years before his devastating ALS diagnosis.

The source said: ‘The place was just so special for both of them. They would take over the whole island so they could just be themselves. It was a place where they shared some of their happiest times together and with the kids and friends.

“They went there for weeks. It has a lot of meaning and it makes sense for her to say goodbye to him there.’

Randall’s daughter, Skylar Staten Randall, 29, received her father’s ashes last week.

A Hollywood Forever Cemetery representative made the dismal delivery at her Los Angeles apartment just three days after his passing. According to the source, “Sandra has taken Skylar under her wing since her father passed away.”

Bullock and Randall never married, but exchanged “vows” on the beach of the Bahamas in an intimate ceremony attended by friends and family on Dec. 31, 2017.

The insider said: ‘Sandra didn’t want to get married after her experience of divorcing Jesse James in 2010. But she and Bryan really wanted to have something for the kids, to kind of seal the deal and show them that it was. something forever.’

Last year, in 2022, the star announced she would be taking a break from acting — though her partner’s health status was still kept quiet and out of the public eye.

She told it at the time Entertainment tonight that she “wants to be where I’m happiest,” adding, “I take my job very seriously when I’m working.” And I just want to be with my babies and my family 24/7. I’ll be there for a while.’
