Shares in interior design company Sanderson Design skyrocketed after it struck a deal with Next to sell products through the retail giant.

The luxury home furnishings group signed a five-year license agreement to give Next the exclusive rights to make products under the Clarke & Clarke brand. Known for its bright flowery designs, Clarke & Clarke has partnered with TV star Tess Daly on bedding and pillows.

Products such as bedding, terry cloth, tableware, furniture and lighting will be launched next year. They will be manufactured by Next’s suppliers. Sanderson, quoted on the AIM, said the value of the contract alone would reach £2.6 million this year. Sanderson shares rose 15.2 percent, or 18 pence, to 136.5 pence.

The deal has the potential for “multi-year revenue” and was a welcome vote of confidence from a major UK retailer, Sanderson chief executive Lisa Montague said.

Next has an agreement with Sanderson’s Morris & Co brand for women’s clothing since 2021. Next recently bought Joules and Made.com from the brink of collapse.
