Horror as elderly woman, 74, is killed after being pushed in front of San Francisco BART train by homeless man

A 74-year-old San Francisco woman has died after being pushed in front of a BART train at a subway station by a homeless man.

Corazon Dandan, a San Mateo County resident, was pushed in front of a moving train headed to Millbrae at the Powell Street station around 11:06 p.m. yesterday.

BART Police officers identified and arrested Trevor Belmont, a 49-year-old homeless man also known as Hoak Taing, in connection with the incident.

According to officials, the victim hit her head on the train as a result of the push and fell onto the platform.

She was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where her head injuries proved fatal.

According to his arrest report, Belmont is charged with murder and battery on an elder or dependent adult likely to result in serious bodily injury.

In an official statement, officers described the perpetrator as a “vagrant,” a formal term for a homeless person.

According to the San Francisco StandardA woman on police scanner audio can be heard saying that Dandan “was pushed onto a train and is now lying on the platform. We have medical help on the way.”

“We need more units for this,” a male voice is also said to have replied.

Belmont was arrested today and held in the San Francisco County Jail without bail.

Officers also confirmed that the incident is still under investigation, saying, “BART police are interviewing witnesses and processing evidence.

“The investigation includes reviewing surveillance footage. Investigators are still working to determine a motive for this incident.”

Authorities confirmed that Dandan’s death is the first homicide of the year in the BART system.
