San Francisco 49ers defensive end Charles Omenihu, 25, is arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges after “pushing his girlfriend to the ground during a fight” one day after the team’s playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys.
San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after police were called to his home in San Jose, according to a department statement.
The 25-year-old was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail but has since been released after posting bail. The charge is only a misdemeanor, but Omenihu could still be sentenced to up to a year in prison if he is found guilty.
Officers were called to his San Jose home Monday afternoon when a woman, claiming to be his girlfriend, said he “pushed her to the ground during an argument.”
In a department news release, officers say the woman complained of pain in her arm, but “did not observe any visible physical injury.”

The alleged incident took place less than 24 hours after San Francisco’s playoff victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Santa Clara on Sunday.
