The woman’s parents wrote that they believed their daughter was still in the City Heights area of San Diego, where she was last seen, at the time of her disappearance, and expressed frustration over the “lack of assistance from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department’.

On Sunday they wrote: ‘We are now deeply afraid for our daughter.’ And I asked the audience ‘if any of you are willing/able to help and would like to get in touch with us directly – or have any further questions – my DMs are open.’

Hours after the post, a San Diego Police Department sheriff’s deputy defended himself by telling the missing woman’s father that they responded to his request “by direct message.”

‘Mr. O’Hanlon, we responded to your inquiry via direct message. We have provided you with information to the San Diego Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit,” the message said.

“They are handling your daughter’s case because City Heights is under their jurisdiction. Please contact them at (619) 531-2277. Thank you and stay safe.”

Department officials did not respond to requests from DailyMail.com for updates on the investigation.

CC O’Hanlon briefed the department saying they received the messages, but no one has called the family back since they filed the missing person report.
