Newly released bodycam shows a San Diego police officer locking himself in the backseat of his cruiser with a female suspect who wanted to have sex with him – before calling a colleague to release him.
Anthony Hair resigned after an investigation into the embarrassing incident was launched, and just one day before he was due to be interviewed by superiors.
The new footage begins after he arrested the unidentified woman on suspicion of stealing a car on August 15, 2023.
The suspect, who was wearing a red tank top and red shorts, was one of two people wanted for the car theft, but a warrant had also been issued for her arrest.
Hair would take her to police headquarters and then to the Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee.
As they drove back to the police station, the woman was heard propositioning him for sex.

The incident, which was largely captured by body cameras, begins after Officer Hair arrested the unidentified woman on suspicion of stealing a car on August 15, 2023.
She asks him if he is married, and Hair wants to know why she is asking him.
‘You’re not that bad. How is it going to hurt me if I work with the system, you know what I mean? That’s the way I see shit.’
She then asks, “Are you single?” To which he replies, “Yes, but you’re not.”
Her shocking response: “I’m fucking right now.”
“Don’t say that now… Don’t say that now because everything is being recorded right now,” Hair said.
As they continue toward the detention center, you can hear him ask what she’s doing in the backseat.

Hair then began driving his cruiser down a residential street, according to his GPS, and turned off his bodycam.
The story continues about 20 minutes later, with her calling a fellow police officer, who admitted that he had locked himself in the back of his police car and asked if he had a master key that would allow him to open it.
The unidentified fellow officer described Hair as panicking.
‘I asked him if he was okay. He said yes, and then asked if I had the key to my patrol car… I asked why he was asking and what he needed. Officer Hair then asked me if I could meet him,β he said.
βI asked him where he was and he said, near Cottonwood… I asked him why he needed me, and he said he’d tell me when I got there. He said he was really ashamed.β
Hair then began driving his cruiser down a residential street, according to his GPS, and turned off his bodycam. The story resumes about 20 minutes later, with her calling a fellow police officer, who admitted that he had locked himself in the back of his police car and asked if he had a master key that would allow him to open it.
Shortly afterwards, the officer arrives on the scene and opens the back door, discovering Hair and the woman together in the backseat.
By the time he was found, the officer had been locked in with the suspect in the back of the car for over an hour.
Hair denied anything untoward had happened, repeatedly saying he was “checking up” on the suspect when the door accidentally locked on him and that the camera turned off because he knocked him off the clip.
‘When I woke her up, I noticed the door closing on me. At that point I tried to open the door a little bit,β Hair said.
The suspect also claimed during an investigation that nothing inappropriate had happened between them, but that he hoped they would meet up when she was released..
Hair denied that anything untoward had happened, repeatedly saying that he was “checking up” on the suspect when the door accidentally locked on him and that the camera turned off because he knocked him off the clip
Hair resigned about a month after the investigation began and a day before he was scheduled for an interview with internal affairs.
βHe wanted to come with me when I was done with the warrant or whatever I was arrested for,β the woman said.
However, upon investigation, traces of semen were discovered on Hair’s belt after they found him. He was asked to reenact their time together as part of the research.
Hair resigned about a month after the investigation began and a day before he was scheduled for an interview with internal affairs.
It is unclear whether he will face criminal charges.
