Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features are expected to come to these older phones
Samsung just launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 running the latest One UI 6.1. 1 software on board, complete with all the latest Galaxy AI upgrades. We now have a better idea which other Galaxy phones might also be eligible for the update.
According to a leak from @tarunvats33 on social media (inspired by well-known tipsters) @UniverseIce), the One UI 6.1. 1 update is on its way to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S24 devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.
Additionally, the software will eventually also be available for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets – so devices essentially dating back to 2022.
It’s unclear where this information is coming from, so don’t take it as confirmation until Samsung officially announces it. However, it would make sense that phones and tablets from the past few years would be eligible for One UI 6.1.1.
The difference with One UI 6.1.1
Samsung first introduced Galaxy AI with the S24 series of phones earlier this year. The main improvements in the One UI 6.1. 1 software all involve artificial intelligence features that complement what was already available.
For example, there’s the Sketch to Image feature, which lets you turn your digital notes into a fully AI-generated photo. There’s also the Portrait Studio feature, which lets you apply AI enhancements to portrait photos you’ve taken with your phone.
The Live Translation feature works with more apps in One UI 6.1. 1, as does the AI-powered text generation Composer. Meanwhile, Samsung Notes gets the same transcription, translation and summarization options as Voice Recorder.
When you get the software update, you’ll also notice a new Galaxy AI menu in Settings. Other improvements are device-specific, including new cover screen widgets on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
