Samsung’s capable 32-inch 4K monitor-meets-TV is $300 off

Samsung makes a lot of monitors, but the Smart Monitor series is one of the most interesting – and beautiful. Half TV, half monitor, the 32-inch M8 can connect to your PC and stream Disconnection on Apple TV Plus, and you can even watch them both at the same time by going into split screen (or picture-in-picture) on the 4K display. The original price of $699.99 was a bit hard to swallow, but the M8 is now more of a budget-friendly purchase, as it currently sells for almost half that price. You can pick one up Amazon, Samsungor Best buy for $399.99.

This version of the M8 seems improved over the 2022 model I reviewed The edge. I left feeling that the minimalist design, clip-on webcam and app support would definitely attract a lot of people, but it was far from perfect. The newer model solves some of my biggest issues: instead of a micro HDMI port, it has a full-size port, and the adjustable stand seems much more flexible.

While not a gaming monitor – it has a 60Hz refresh rate – the M8 does offer the ability to stream games over Wi-Fi, a nice bonus. That includes Xbox games if you have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, as well as PC games via Nvidia GeForce Now. The monitor offers Bluetooth support, allowing you to connect a wireless controller, and its built-in speakers mean you don’t need headphones or external speakers to entertain (although you might want to have them, as the M8’s speakers aren’t as powerful are) .
