Samsung’s big One UI 7 update could hit Galaxy phones sooner than expected – here’s what’s new
With the full launch of Android 15 approaching, Samsung is planning to start testing its own version of the update, called One UI 7. The latest rumor is that a beta version of the software could arrive before the end of this month.
This comes from the usually reliable tipster Ice Universe (through Android Police), which puts the One UI 7 beta launch at “late July or early August,” assuming no “accidents” occur along the way that delay the launch.
That launch would be a little earlier than expected, but not by much: last year, the One UI 6 beta was made available on August 11, 2023. As always with beta software, run it at your own risk and should expect to encounter all kinds of bugs and issues.
Samsung’s latest devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, come with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. 1 on board. We can expect a full One UI 7 rollout later this year, once the software is finalized.
A big update
If no accidents occur, there will be one UI 7 Beta available in late July or early August.July 23, 2024
From what we’ve heard about One UI 7 so far, it seems like we can expect a major software update from Samsung. Newwin has collected some of the most recent leaks, some of which point to much more customization options.
There is also spoken that One UI 7 is heavily influenced by iOS 18 in terms of appearance, with quick actions on the lock screen and a redesign of the notification shade that is apparently inspired by what Apple has done with its software on the iPhone.
That’s on top of all the new features also coming to Android 15. It seems likely that satellite messaging will be supported for the first time, though users may only get free access for a few years before having to pay extra for it.
Android 15 is now in public beta, and will likely officially launch in full on Tuesday, August 13. That’s the day Google will unveil its next hardware, with the Pixel 9 phone series taking center stage at the show.
