Samsung One UI 7 can add AI notification summaries, just like Apple Intelligence

  • Galaxy AI is tipped to be coming to Samsung phones
  • It can be introduced as part of One UI 7
  • Apple Intelligence already offers a similar feature

A new rumor suggests that Samsung’s upcoming One UI 7 software update could add a new Galaxy AI feature already available as part of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1: notification summaries.

This comes from a well-known tipster @chunvn8888 (via SamMobile), but there isn’t much to do here. All that is said is that Galaxy AI has added a notification summary feature, which Samsung calls AI notification.

The update hasn’t been publicly announced yet, which leads us to believe it’s currently being tested as part of One UI 7. We expect a beta version of One UI 7 to be available to Samsung phone users before the end of the month. .

If it does indeed get added to the Galaxy AI pack of features, there’s a good chance it will work across phones: we’ve seen Galaxy AI features make their way to phones like the Galaxy S22 after originally launching with the Galaxy S24.

AI everywhere

The idea of notification summaries in Apple Intelligence is that AI reads all your messages for you and picks out the most important points. This saves you time because you don’t have to check them all individually.

Although the feature has only just become available, it has not been an unqualified success so far. Ny Breaking’s John-Anthony Disotto found the experience a bit weird and unnerving, and it doesn’t work well for personal messages, like text messages about a divorce.

It might be best that you can disable it or adjust it on an app-by-app basis. There may be certain types of apps and notifications that are better suited to summary than others.

Samsung seems to think the feature is very worthwhile and potentially useful to Galaxy phone owners. When it appears as a Galaxy AI feature soon, it will join tools like Sketch to Image and AI-powered audio transcription.
