Samsung has unveiled its home appliance plans at CES 2025, announcing a refrigerator with a new 9-inch AI Home screen and a 7-inch AI Home display for the newly launched Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set.
While the 7-inch display is already used by the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo launched earlier this year, the 9-inch AI home screen is a new application of Samsung’s home assist technology and a welcome diversification for the ever-expanding range of smart branded devices. devices.
Until now, Samsung’s smart refrigerators have primarily had larger screens, such as the 21.5-inch Family Hub refrigerator, but with this new, smaller screen, consumers have more options to integrate smart features and functionality into their homes.
It’s also a personal victory for me; I would like to bring more smart devices to the market, but I won’t rather as invested so far in Samsung’s ‘Screens Everywhere’ mantra, favoring smaller and more discreet displays over the 21.5-inch panels found in many existing smart refrigerators.
Speaking about the new development, Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, said: “In addition to efforts to improve usability, we are expanding options for consumers by developing screens of different sizes and products that integrate them effectively.”
What’s the hype with smart devices?
Smart devices like those from Samsung offer advanced features, from in-device cameras that can display content on the device to on-screen guidance for recipes or laundry cycles. Plus, there are more general-use benefits, such as entertainment features that are compatible with some of the top streaming services.
With Samsung devices you get a number of specific benefits; voice control via Bixby, essential device information such as information about internal temperature or washing cycle, and even advanced features such as Map View, which turn the AI Home display into useful smart hubs for whole-home monitoring and control.
If you’re a smart home enthusiast, you’ll also reap the benefits of SmartThings compatibility, and while there’s no talk of Matter compatibility as of yet, as other Samsung smart devices are starting to roll out Matter support roll, probably just a matter of time.
