In fact, its $999 introductory price makes it about the same price as a Galaxy S21 Plus, though no one would dare call the Galaxy Z Flip 3 an “affordable” device. That said, there are some handy ways to save some cash with this week’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 deals – whether you’re looking for an unlocked or mobile device.

Major upgrades include a powerful new Snapdragon 888, an expansive cover screen four times the size of the previous model, and some new camera software upgrades. Samsung has also improved the internal display’s refresh rate so that it races at a fast 120Hz – bringing it in line with the latest flagship devices on the market.

Finally, Samsung has finally managed to do what seemed impossible a few years ago: produce a foldable device that actually costs about the same as a ‘regular’ device with similar specs. Well, relatively speaking, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 still costs $999 at launch, which isn’t exactly pocket change.

That puts it in the same price bracket as the ‘plus’ size flagships like the iPhone 12 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus – powerful devices, but no more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, thanks to the new Snapdragon 888 chipset. Simply put, you don’t pay that new technology novelty tax for using a foldable device, and you even get a few new design improvements.

While the Flip 3 looks a lot like its predecessor on first inspection, it now has a cover display that’s four times larger, an upgraded internal screen capable of a 120Hz refresh rate, and a reinforced hinge that feels much sturdier than the one on previous Fold devices. Samsung has also ditched the glass exterior design for this new iteration, opting instead for a new ‘glassy’ design. Some may not welcome that change, but it does mean a cheaper device – and one that’s more durable.
