The S22Ultra (Image credit: Future)

As the Samsung fans over at SamMobile found out earlier this month, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will have new primary cameras with the same 50MP resolution as last year’s model. The Galaxy S23 Ultra drops the 108MP sensor of its predecessor in favor of a new primary camera, with an impressive-sounding 200MP.

Not only that, but the new devices will capture photos in RAW format up to 50MP, up from the previous limit of 12MP. We also hear about a feature that allows the camera to take hyperlapse videos of the sky.

Camera editor Tim Coleman seems to think we need to look past that 200MP number when it comes to the S23 Ultra’s camera, saying “it’s more than just a gimmick” in his deep dive into the sensor that likely to use the phone.

If one thing has become abundantly clear through leaks in recent weeks, it’s that the S23-generation cameras aren’t messing around. This official video posted by Samsung less than ten days ago highlights the low-light shooting capabilities of the new phones.

“Epic nights are coming” might seem a bit ambiguous as a tagline, but we already have an idea why that’s the focus could be of the Galaxy S23’s camera experience.

An interesting tidbit that stems from the rumors is that every Galaxy S23 buyer will have equal color chances regardless of which Galaxy S model you choose. Whether you go for the entry-level model or spring for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, you can show off Samsung’s unique colors.

We’re expecting some interesting shades accompanied by Samsung’s interesting color branding. A Misty Lilac or a Botanic Green could be your favorite hue this season, whether you choose the enigmatic mid-range Galaxy S23 Plus or one of the other new phones.

We also expect accessories to match the new colors, although we haven’t heard of new devices such as earbuds in this year’s colors yet.

James Rogerson has even provided an in-depth look at all the expected Galaxy S23 colors, including speculative renderings of what each color could look like on different models.

Which is your favourite? Personally, I have a love-hate relationship with the color Cotton Flower.

As Samsung fans already know, we’re expecting three members of the Galaxy S23 series on February 1: the Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23 Plus, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The leaked image of dummy units seen above (credit: Sonny Dickson) echoes other leaks and rumors about the design direction Samsung is taking with this generation. Each device is remarkably similar in shape to the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

This year’s standard and Plus models of the S23 seem to be shedding the Contour Cut camera module found on the previous two generations of Galaxy S phones, in favor of something sleeker and sharper.

Marc McLaren, TechRadar’s editor-in-chief, has done extensive research on the difference between the three expected models in our Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S23 Plus vs S23 Ultra comparison feature.
