Samsung Galaxy S24 screen size rumors for every model
Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 series phones on January 17 at the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024. And the S24 series, like the Galaxy S23 series before it, is expected to come in a trio of screen sizes and feature about a host of improvements to their CPU, battery and camera, to name a few.
One update that is often overlooked, however, are improvements to displays. Samsung is known for producing some of the best displays on the market, with rich saturated colors, sharp details and smooth motion. The focus on screens makes sense, as screens are our main point of interaction with our devices.
Nothing is more important than the screen for a smartphone, and panel technology for phones has seen some significant improvements in recent years in terms of brightness, clarity, visual quality and refresh rate.
As mentioned, the Galaxy S24 family is expected to have a choice of three screen sizes, the smallest of which will start with the standard Galaxy S24, then increase slightly for the Galaxy S24 Plus and be completed with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung Galaxy S24
Rumor has it that the brand new entry-level Galaxy S24 will use a 6.2-inch display, which is a modest upgrade over last year's Galaxy S23.
The previous model had a 6.1-inch screen and the S24 is expected to offer thinner bezels.
The base Samsung Galaxy S24's resolution will likely remain the same at FHD+ or 1080 x 2340, which is still decent quality in 2024.
Samsung Galaxy S24Plus
Another improvement is the Galaxy S24 Plus, which reportedly uses a respectable 6.7-inch screen with smaller bezels framing the screen.
This is again a mild 1-inch improvement over the previous Galaxy S23 Plus, which had a 6.6-inch panel.
More interestingly, however, there are also rumors that the Galaxy S24 Plus' resolution has been upgraded from the same 1080 x 2340 resolution to a QHD+ or WQHD upgrade.
This means it can have a higher pixel count spread over a wider aspect ratio, which is a reason for owners of previous Plus models to consider an upgrade.
Samsung Galaxy S24Ultra
As always, the Ultra model has the largest screen and the Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to have a whopping 6.8-inch screen.
This puts it in the same territory as the iPhone 15 Pro Max (6.7 inches), Google Pixel 8 Pro (6.7 inches) and the same size as the previous Samsung S23 Ultra and even the older S22 Ultra.
This seems conservative at first until you see that the entire Galaxy S24 family is said to have a screen with 2,500 nits of brightness, a significant improvement over the previous 1,750 nits.
The resolution of the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely remain the same or be comparable to the already impressive 3088 x 1440 of the S23 Ultra.
Display size of the Samsung Galaxy S24
While the Galaxy S24's display isn't aiming to revolutionize smartphone screen standards, there's still a lot to be excited about, especially for fans of the entry-level and Plus models of the Galaxy S24.
A notable upgrade to both the S24 and S24 Plus is the rumored addition of LTPO technology, which is expected to make the screen more battery efficient by offering a wider refresh rate range allowing the screen to go to lower speeds to save power when not necessary.
LTPO panels were present in previous Galaxy Ultra phones, but never made it to the standard Galaxy S series phones; The Galaxy S23 and S22 offered variable refresh rates, but they only went from 120Hz to 48Hz, instead of a powerful 1Hz.
With the addition of LTPO technology, the display should deliver smooth visuals and performance as expected from Galaxy S series phones, but also get a boost in power efficiency.
