The Samsung Galaxy S24 line – including the Galaxy S24 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – is fast approaching and all signs point to a January launch.
As such, we've also heard a lot about these phones, as while nothing is official yet, they have been leaked extensively in recent months, giving us a good idea of many of the likely specs and features.
This also applies to the cameras, which could be among the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy S24 line based on previous form. After all, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra currently tops our list of the best camera phones.
So, will the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra dethrone it? We can't say for sure yet, but below you'll find an overview of what the various leaks and rumors say about the cameras of each Galaxy S24 model.
Which cameras will the Samsung Galaxy S24 likely have?
So far, it doesn't seem like the Samsung Galaxy S24's cameras will be much of an upgrade over the Samsung Galaxy S23's – or perhaps won't be an upgrade at all.
According to a detailed Samsung Galaxy S24 specs leak, the phone will have a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, bringing the same specs as the Galaxy S23's cameras.
Like that phone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 will apparently also have a 12 MP front-facing camera.
This is the most detailed camera leak we've heard yet for the base model Galaxy S24. But an earlier leak @Tech_Reve similarly pointed out that it has the same 50MP main camera as its predecessor (an ISOCELL GN3).
If these leaks are true, there may be no changes to the camera hardware for the Samsung Galaxy S24 – although it's possible that the sensors for the ultra-wide-angle, telephoto or selfie cameras will be different, just with the same number of megapixels as before. Another sensor can still be useful, for example it can be larger and therefore let in more light for better low-light performance.
We're also expecting some new camera capabilities thanks to AI, with leaks pointing to the ability to move objects, people and pets in Galaxy S24 photos you've taken, among other AI editing tools.
Which cameras will the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus likely have?
Based on past form, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus will almost certainly have the same cameras as the standard Samsung Galaxy S24, and leaks point in that direction as well.
The sources above in the Galaxy S24 section also mentioned the Galaxy S24 Plus and said it features the same cameras. So it will likely have a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP front camera, just like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus.
The main sensor (and possibly the others) will likely be the same again, but we could see upgrades thanks to new AI editing tools.
Which cameras will the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra likely have?
Unlike its siblings, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is likely to see some camera changes, with a leak in the Galaxy S24 Ultra specs pointing to a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angle, a 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, a 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. zoom and a 12 MP selfie camera.

So the rumored change on the Galaxy S24 Ultra is to replace a 10 MP 10x telephoto with a 50 MP 5x telephoto. That sounds like both an upgrade and a downgrade, offering more megapixels but a shorter optical zoom distance.
We've heard these exact camera specs of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra from multiple sources, so it's likely that these claims are accurate.
It's worth noting that some previous leaks pointed in different directions, suggesting that there could be little or no change to the Galaxy S24 Ultra's cameras, or that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may have variable optical zoom, allowing it to move between multiple can switch zoom levels with one lens. We also previously heard that the Galaxy S24 Ultra may have a larger 1-inch main sensor.
However, we haven't heard any of these claims lately. In some cases, the sources of these leaks have since stated that plans for the Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera have changed, and it will likely have the above camera specs instead (meaning 50MP telephoto is likely the only major change ).
But even if that's the case, it's still possible that some of the other sensors could change while keeping the same megapixel count.
Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, like its siblings, will almost certainly have some new AI camera tricks, with leaks pointing to the ability to move people and objects in photos, expand the background of images and more.
