Samsung Galaxy Ring 2: the latest rumors
The Samsung Galaxy Ring was unveiled in early 2024 to much fanfare. Referred to as the winter presentation of Galaxy Unpacked and unveiled at the Mobile World Congress tech conference in Barcelona, it was only launched in July last year, making it less than a year ago. old. But the world of fitness and wearable technology is moving quickly, and the latest rumors indicate that Samsung could have a new version of the best smart ring on the market as early as the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22.
A full release seems unlikely given the short lifespan of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, but it’s entirely possible that we could see at least a glimpse of the next version soon.
So what could the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 bring us before 2025? The current version is brilliant, trumping the Oura Ring 4 as our top pick because it doesn’t require a subscription, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of room for improvement. So here’s everything we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2, and everything we’d like to see.
Samsung Galaxy Ring latest rumors and leaks
Continue the chase
- What is it? The next smart ring from Samsung
- When is it out? Probably mid to late 2025, with a teaser reveal in the meantime
- How much will it cost? Don’t expect much change from the current price of $399 / £399 / about AU$750 – we also hope Samsung continues to eschew the subscription model
Samsung Galaxy Ring: price and release date rumors
- No word on price change or increase
- Tipped for unveiling during Unpacked on January 22
- May not go on sale until later this year
When it comes to release date and pricing information, we don’t have much to say about the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2. There are no rumors or leaks to suggest that Samsung will change the current pricing structure of the Galaxy Ring with its next model. .
As such, we can probably expect the price to be around the same as last year: $399/£399/or around AU$750. Crucial to the pricing was Samsung’s choice not to opt for a subscription model for the Galaxy Ring. It’s a vital advantage over the rival Oura Ring range, and we certainly hope this continues this year.
There are still a few rumors when it comes to a release schedule. A leak in November revealed that Samsung “planned to launch its Galaxy Ring 2 model slightly earlier than originally planned.” Of course, this is hard to decipher if we don’t know when Samsung originally planned to launch the Ring, and sooner that could mean days, weeks, months, or even years. More usefully, a leak from December 2024 suggested we’d get an ‘introduction’ of the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 during January’s Unpacked event, which has now been confirmed for January 22.
As with the unveiling of the original model, this is likely a preview of a full reveal later this year. The Galaxy Ring was shown off at Unpacked and MWC before being fully revealed in July 2024. We expect the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 to follow a similar pattern.
Samsung Galaxy Ring 2: likely design and features
- Rumor has it that it is thinner
- Samsung has patented an adjustable strap to solve the sizing problem
- Larger sizes also possible
- There are rumors of a longer battery life
Samsung is unlikely to reinvent the wheel when it comes to smart ring design, which is severely limited in form due to its technology and purpose. However, there could be some interesting design changes in the works.
According to the same leak that hinted at a faster-than-expected launch, the new Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 will be thinner than its predecessor. Fortunately, this does not come at the expense of battery life, which will also improve according to the leak. The information also hints at ‘more features’, but there are few details on what this might entail.
In October, it was revealed that Samsung has patented a new type of smart ring with an adjustable band that could solve the sizing issues currently plaguing the smart ring market. The adjustable inner tube would change size, while the outer band would remain fixed. It’s not a perfect solution, but as a patent this will likely last for years and be an unlikely addition to the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2.
Another, more confused rumor points to the prospect of new Samsung Galaxy Ring sizes in the pipeline. These were first reported in September, with will be available in January.

While some outlets have taken this as a sign that the Galaxy Ring 2 will have new, larger sizes, Jambor doesn’t specify this, and a more in-depth report from 91Mobile phones indicates that these are additional sizes for the current model, instead of the Galaxy Ring 2.
Samsung Galaxy Ring 2: what we want to see
So we have collected all the concrete information about the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2. But what does the second version need to succeed? After months of testing and use, here are some things we’d like to see.
1. A page from Circular’s Sizing book
The Circular Ring may not have set the world on fire, but the Circular Ring 2, unveiled at CES 2025, features a huge upgrade in smart ring technology.
It ditches physical plastic sizing kits in favor of a smartphone-powered Digital Ring Sizing feature, and it’s a feature we’d love to see in every smart ring out there, especially the Galaxy Ring 2.
2. More training detection
While the Galaxy Ring offers walk and run workout detection, the Oura Ring 4 offers 40 automatic workout profiles based on your tastes, and even works to tackle more challenging workout profiles like rowing.
The Galaxy Ring 2 could certainly benefit from more automatic exercise detection, which is a mainstay of the best smartwatches and rival Oura.
3. More gesture controls
Samsung’s Galaxy Ring features limited gesture controls, an essential advantage over the Oura Ring series. We would like to see Samsung expand the offering.
Right now there are two gestures: you can silence alarms or take a photo or video using the double squeeze gesture. More options, including a phone answering feature, would work fine, thank you, but we’d like to see remote screen control functionality – imagine Tony Stark/Iron Man scrolling through holograms with a swipe of his hand.
4. Battery life of 10 days
10 days may be a big ask, but the Samsung Galaxy Ring’s seven-day battery life can’t compete with the eight days offered by the Oura Ring 4. Even that would be a bonus, but we’d do that Love double digits visible. As the leaks we mentioned suggest, we can expect at least some battery life improvement with the Galaxy Ring 2, so here’s hoping it’s a big jump.
