Samantha Armytage puts on a brave face as she gets back on her feet using a crutch in her first public sighting since her hip replacement

Samantha Armytage has been seen in public for the first time since her hip surgery.

The 47-year-old Farmer Wants A Wife presenter confirmed earlier this month that she had undergone major surgery after suffering from a “severe” form of osteoarthritis.

On Wednesday, Samantha flashed a smile as she walked through a Sydney park with the help of a metal hospital crutch.

The TV presenter looked casual in black sweatpants and a navy zip-up jacket, which she paired with a brown wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.

After her surgery, she walked comfortably in a pair of white sneakers and relied on a metal crutch as she walked through the park.

Her recovery appears to be going well, with her back on her feet just weeks after undergoing hip surgery at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney.

Recovery from hip replacement surgery can be slow and may require special physical therapy.

Samantha confirmed she had undergone the surgery earlier this month, sharing photos of herself in the hospital on Instagram.

In a lengthy caption, she explained that she suffered from osteoarthritis after the cartilage in her right hip tore.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease in which the tissue in the joint breaks down over time. This condition is more common in older people.

She wrote: ‘Hip, hip hooray. New hip, new me, no worries. A few weeks ago I had a total hip replacement.

‘After a very active childhood full of outdoor activities (and a skiing accident 30 years ago) I tore all the cartilage from my right hip.

“It was bone on bone and then filled with severe arthritis. I am so proud of how strong my body is and how well I have healed.

‘I am truly bionic now… and my loved ones are happy that they no longer have to see me hobbling around in pain.

‘A huge thank you to the wonderful nurses @stvincentshospitalsydney for the care, a bit of Endone (pic 5), lots of rehab and all my beautiful friends for filling my room with flowers!.. xx

‘*Fun fact: There are 54,000 hip replacements performed in Australia each year, but I have to say my surgeon, Dr Michael Solomon, is THE best.’
