Samantha Armytage announces her departure from Channel Seven after 21 years: ‘The time has come’
Farmer Wants A Wife presenter Samantha Armytage has announced she is leaving Channel 7 after 21 years.
Armytage, 47, has turned down a new deal with Seven after her current contract expires in October, The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday.
She described the departure as “sad and ambivalent,” telling the publication that she felt her time had come and that she was excited about her future.
“I’m big on instinct. I listen to my instincts. I know when the time is right. I pride myself on the fact that I back myself enough to say, ‘I’ve done what I can do here,’ and I’m moving on,” she said.
“This isn’t the end. It’s just the end of this chapter.”
It was also revealed that Armytage will still appear in the upcoming Logies, with Farmer Wants A Wife nominated for Best Structured Reality Programme, but that she will not be returning to present the next series of the show, which is currently in pre-production.
Natalie Gruzlewski, the reality show’s original host, is returning as host.
Armytage joined Seven in 2003 and took on her first major presenting role at Seven News Sydney in 2004.
