Sam Kerr’s dream week has continued, with the football superstar scoring a sublime hat-trick for Chelsea against hapless Paris FC in the Champions League.
It follows that the Matildas captain confirmed her engagement to long-term partner Kristie Mewis a few days ago.
Kerr, 30, found the back of the net in both halves at Stamford Bridge as the Blues won 4-1 to send an emphatic message to their European rivals.
On Tuesday, Kerr announced on Instagram that she had proposed to Mewis.
In the photos, Mewis appeared surprised as she beamed at Kerr, who held open a ring box.

The happy couple were delighted as Kerr raised her arm in joy, while Mewis snuggled close to her in another photo.

“September 1, 2023,” the couple captioned the photos.
The couple were inundated with congratulatory messages from their social media followers, including other sports celebrities including Australian cricketer David Warner and Sydney native footballer Remy Siemsen.
The development comes just weeks after Mewis confirmed to People magazine that the couple is engaged, following months of speculation.
‘[She’s] my biggest supporter, always listen to me, all my crazy antics, whining and complaining,” she told the publication.
Rumors swirled that Kerr and Mewis were engaged after Australia’s biggest football star posted a photo on social media in September of her wearing a gold ring on her wedding finger.
The Matildas striker included the shot in an Instagram post, accompanied by the simple caption ‘September people x’ and two other images showing a ring on her friend Mewis’ left ring finger.
Kristie Mewis confirmed their engagement to People magazine earlier this month and called Sam Kerr her “biggest supporter,” ending months of speculation
The American met Kerr when they both played for rival clubs in the US in 2019
Their international romance has since been extensively documented on social media, with both women amassing hundreds of thousands of followers
The happy couple plan to get married in September this year, with the venue still unknown
The couple first met while playing for rival clubs in the US in 2019.
They spoke online for almost four months during the 2020 Covid lockdown before spending two weeks in quarantine together, where they quickly fell in love.
The pair continued their romance ahead of the 2021 Olympics, where – following the US’s defeat of Australia in the semi-finals in Tokyo – they were photographed together.
Their on-court embrace made headlines as Kerr’s split with her former partner – another American player, Nikki Stanton – had not yet become public.
November 2021 marked the first time the pair – who last met competitively at the Tokyo Olympics – have played against each other on the field since becoming ‘Instagram officials’ in August that year.
Their international romance has since been extensively documented on social media, with both women amassing hundreds of thousands of followers.
‘We are not private people. I enjoy sharing my story. I like to share who I am outside of football,” Kerr told British publication Gaffer earlier this year.
Kerr and Mewis are the undisputed power couple in women’s football and their wedding promises to be a celebrity celebration.
