Football superstar Sam Kerr has posted photos on social media of her and her fiancé Kristie Mewis back at their London home, a sign her grandmother is recovering after being hit by a car in Perth.

Kerr, 31, took to Instagram to post a story which featured both Mewis and the couple’s cat.

One photo had the caption “girls are back together,” while the second image featured the words “and we’re back.”

The development comes after Coral Kerr, 89, had to be rushed to hospital when she was struck while getting off a bus in Perth’s south-west suburb of Palmyra on December 27.

A 63-year-old man is said to have climbed the curb in an attempt to overtake the bus before hitting Kerr with his ute.

The man has since been charged with dangerous driving occasioning serious bodily harm and will appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court in Western Australia on February 4.

At the time of the alleged incident, Sam Kerr and her father Roger were at the picturesque Krinklewood Estate winery in the NSW Hunter Valley, attending the wedding of her long-term Matildas teammate Emily Van Egmond to partner Kat Thompson.

It is understood Sam and her father learned of the tragedy while Roger was at reception hastily organizing a flight back to Perth to be at his mother’s hospital bedside.

Photos from the scene in Palmyra show the ute had extensive damage to the bonnet after the vehicle struck an electricity pylon before hitting Ms Kerr.

Coral’s neighbors and bus passengers who witnessed the crash rushed over to help her as she lay on the grass next to the sidewalk.

“She wasn’t really reacting much, she was very sweaty and clammy… I think she was obviously in shock,” neighbor Mary Ivey told 9News.

Witnesses claimed that a line of cars were lined up behind the bus and the driver of the car tried to overtake him by driving on the sidewalk.

Coral Kerr is said to be in serious but stable condition as she continues to recover.

The ute reportedly drove onto the footpath in an attempt to overtake the bus and struck a utility pole before hitting Coral Kerr.

It is not known whether she has been released from the hospital.

Chelsea forward Kerr, 31, and her partner, West Ham midfielder Kristie Mewis, 33, spent time with Kerr’s family over the Christmas holidays.

The couple announced they were expecting a baby in November and flew to Australia for the holidays.

The Chelsea star is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury that could see her out of action until March.
