Chelsea and Australia star Sam Kerr suffered a cruciate ligament injury during warm-weather training in Morocco, her club has confirmed.
She is the latest player to suffer the serious injury, which has affected several top players in the WSL and world football, including Beth Mead and Alexia Putellas.
Chelsea Women posted on X (formerly Twitter): 'Chelsea Football Club can confirm that forward Sam Kerr has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during our warm weather training camp in Morocco.'
The club confirmed that Kerr will be assessed by a specialist in the coming days and will then begin her rehabilitation with Chelsea's medical team.
The 30-year-old is out of contract with Chelsea at the end of the current season, after signing for the Blues as a free agent in December 2019.
