Salt Ash crash: Five teenagers are caught in horror crash after their car collides with a tree – leaving one of their mates dead

A teenager has died and two of his friends have been taken to hospital after their car crashed into a tree.

The white Ford Falcon collided with the tree while travelling on the Lemon Tree Passage Road at Salt Ash, in the Hunter region of New South Wales, just before 11pm on Friday.

Five teenagers, aged 14 to 17, were found in the vehicle by paramedics.

One teenager was seriously injured and died while being rushed to hospital.

Two other teenagers suffered minor injuries and were taken to John Hunter Hospital.

The other three teenagers were not seriously injured and the 17-year-old driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have cordoned off the area and forensic personnel are investigating the matter.
