Salernitana are interested in bringing Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr to Serie A on loan.
The 20-year-old, who won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal last February, has yet to establish himself in a Spurs jersey and, despite being recently given a chance by Antonio Conte, has had very few minutes since that arrived
Spurs completed the £14.5m signing of Sarr from Metz in the summer window of 2021, but the midfielder was loaned to France for the remainder of the season.
Pape Matar Sarr has not yet established himself in Tottenham’s midfield and could head to Salernitana
The 20-year-old has only made two appearances for Tottenham under Antonio Conte, both in the last week.
He has made just two, albeit impressive, appearances for Conte since returning, both in the last week as a substitute against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
While the midfielder has established himself as a Senagales international, he has only played 34 minutes for Spurs, which was mainly because Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma were unavailable.
Sarr hopes to get more minutes when Spurs host Portsmouth in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Tottenham assistant Cristian Stellini, who replaced Conte after the death of his former Juventus teammate Gianluca Vialli, hailed Sarr as a “great player with a lot of potential.”

‘He is a very young player. It is the first time he has come to England. He has a year of experience in French Ligue 1,’ he said.
“About his ability, he can do everything because he is a great player with a lot of possibilities. He is a midfielder who can play in many positions. He is a talented player.
‘I spoke at my last press conference about the way you have to wait with young players. If you use young players at the wrong time, you can make a mistake. But with Pape, Antonio decided at that moment that Pape is ready and he improved a lot in training.
‘We work a lot on the position of the body and many skills that he has to improve. He showed a desire to improve and that is very important to us. If you work with a player and he shows this desire, it’s easier. With Pape it’s easy.
He has to keep working because we have a hierarchy, so he has to respect this and we have to respect the players. Now he has the chance and he has to show his desire and quality.
