Saleh Atasoy: Manhunt for bikie with ankle tracker after he allegedly fired gun at car during road rage incident

Police are searching for a ‘dangerous’ armed motorcyclist who allegedly fired a gun at a car during a tense road rage incident.

Detectives on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Saleh Atasoy, a 37-year-old man from Oxenford who they allege was behind an attack in Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast on Friday.

Atasoy is said to have been behind the wheel of an Isuzu D-Max that was involved in a road accident with a 53-year-old driver of a Ford Ranger on Bermuda Street at around 2.40pm.

Atasoy is a member of the Lone Wolf bike gang and wore an ankle tracker.

Detectives on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Saleh Atasoy, a 37-year-old man from Oxenford who they believe was behind an attack at Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast on Friday.

Police allege Atasoy pulled out a gun and shot it into the side of the Ford Ranger before fleeing the scene.

No one was injured during the heated incident.

Police said they believe Atasoy “is armed and considered dangerous.”

“If sighted, contact police immediately on 000 (triple zero),” police said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Garrett said Atasoy is a Lone Wolf motorcycle who had worn a court-ordered GPS tracker in previous offences. Cairns Post reported.

Sen. Sgt. Garrett said police suspect Atasoy removed his tracking device.

“He is known to law enforcement and we want to locate and arrest him as quickly as possible,” Brigadier General Garrett said.

“He was directed by the court to wear that (tracker). There are a number of matters before the courts.’

Det Sen-Sgt Garrett said it was alleged the shooting occurred after Atasoy was seen driving the white Dmax erratically along Nerang-Broadbeach Rd.

He urged Atasoy to hand himself in to the police or contact his lawyer.

“Ultimately it is a stupid and dangerous act and he must face the consequences,” he said.

Police are calling on anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage to come forward.
