Saira Khan reveals she received death threats for wearing bikinis but says ‘bring it on’ and insists she won’t stop because ‘we need to show off our bodies’
Saira Khan has revealed that she has received death threats for wearing bikinis.
The 53-year-old presenter was born into a Muslim family and admitted she has experienced many online trolls about her lack of clothing.
But Saira – who rose to fame when she appeared on The Apprentice – has defiantly said “bring it on” to the sick trolls.
In a new interview, the Loose Women star stressed that she won’t stop wearing bikinis because “we need to show off our bodies.”
Saira explained that she is still “proud” of being able to undress and she feels empowered by showing off her “fit, healthy body”.
Saira Khan, 53, born to a Muslim family, has revealed she has received death threats for wearing bikinis
She said Closer“I am so proud to wear in a bikini, yet in my culture I have experienced death threats for showing myself. I can’t tell you how many trolls I’ve had.
“I say, ‘Bring it on, because I’m not going to stop. People fear powerful women, because if we own who we are, we change the world!’
Meanwhile, the TV personality reminded women from her community of the importance of seeing a “fit, healthy body,” even if they are often covered up.
Saira said, ‘For women in my community and my culture, it’s so important to see what a fit, healthy body looks like and how it ages, because we don’t see it, because it’s constantly discussed a lot.
‘I firmly believe that if you can’t see it, you can’t be it. We have to show off our bodies to get vitamin D, otherwise it won’t do much for you later in life!’
Just last month, Saira urged women over 50 to “stop worrying” and post bikini shots as she shared to Instagram a stunning photo of herself posing up a storm in a two-piece swimwear set.
Saira said, “Does a woman over 50 have to wear a bikini?” – I saw this covered in the press a few days ago and my answer is a big YES, you can!
Go for it ladies, you only have one life.
Stop listening to these stupid debates and stop worrying about your age and what others think. Will you. This is me unfiltered, confident, real and this is the motto I live my life by.’
It comes after Saira opened up about feeling “happier” and more confident in her own skin as she got older.
In March Saira told the Daily Mail: ‘I grew up in a culture where the way you look – your hair, your clothes – is a symbol of your honour, your femininity, your self-respect and your modesty.
“When you get a little edgy, a little different, people look at you a certain way.
It gets rejected, you get criticized. People will even say you look ugly. And for much of my life I have tried to please people.
“But as I get older, it’s all about being happy in my own skin.”
Provocative! But in a new interview, The Apprentice star told ‘bring it on’ to the sick trolls and insisted she wouldn’t stop wearing bikinis because ‘we need to show off our bodies’
Saira – who appeared on the first series of The Apprentice in 2005 – shared how the show made her feel it was “OK” to be “assertive” as a woman.
She said, “Being on that show made me feel like it’s okay as a woman to have an opinion and be assertive, to want to succeed and make money.
“But I also realized that not everyone wants women to be like that. So I also had to deal with the backlash. And that was pretty tough. Sometimes that means you have to make changes.’
Saira previously revealed that she received death threats after revealing that she is no longer a practicing Muslim.
During a 2021 Instagram Live, she insisted she was “not distressed” by the vile abuse, declaring, “I need to live my life.”
The journalist also uploaded a screenshot of a gruesome message she received from a troll, in an effort to help others in similar situations who may be “too scared to come out.”
TV star Saira spoke about the backlash she faced after her revelation, saying: ‘I’ve had death threats…
“Until you’re a woman of that background or ethnicity, you’re never going to understand the barriers and obstacles — the deaths in your life, we’re about 100 years behind in terms of freedom of speech, liberty or individualism, freedom and choice.
Positive: Last month, Saira urged women over 50 to ‘stop worrying’ and post bikini snaps as she shared a stunning selfie
“You can’t believe the messages I’ve received. I’m not going to come out and say I practice the religions because I don’t.” (sic)
The media personality further explained her reasoning behind leaving the faith: “I do not believe in certain aspects of the teachings.
“I believe in same-sex marriage, and if I keep quiet nothing will change – it’s important to me and my truth and my happiness and my choice, that I show my children that you have to live your life by your rules.”
“As long as you’re good and kind and don’t hurt anyone else, and you don’t have to worry about people threatening to kill you, you don’t have to worry about them breaking your windows.”
