Sabrina Carpenter reveals why she cast boyfriend Barry Keoghan in her steamy music video

Sabrina Carpenter says Barry Keoghan’s acting talents landed him a role in one of the music videos, and not just their relationship status.

The Please, Please, Please singer, 25 — who released the very steamy video in June — opened up CBS on Sunday that when she cast her boyfriend as the male lead, she relied on her “not even biased opinion.”

‘I really didn’t even have a biased opinion and thought, “Who is the best actor I can find for this music video?” And he was sitting next to me in a chair,” she recalled.

“And he was so excited about it,” she said of the 31-year-old Oscar winner’s reaction.

There is speculation that the single, the second from her hit album Short n’ Sweet, contains cheeky references to the Batman star.

When asked if the father-of-one is a fan of the record and the rest of her discography, the singer eagerly said he thought it was “a lot of fun.”

“He likes the song, and that’s great. He is a fan of the song,” the singer shared, adding that he “likes my music a lot, yes.”

The pair were first linked in the summer of 2023 but have chosen to keep their relationship private before making waves with the music video.

In August, the Don’t Smile singer spoke about her husband’s talent, calling him “one of the best actors of this generation.”

She told Variety: “I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation.

“So when I saw it on screen with my song as the soundtrack, it made the video better and all the more special.”

Days later, she told The Guardian that socializing with the Saltburn star in the video was “one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.”

“I’m very honored and I got to work with such an amazing actor,” she told the outlet.

Sabrina explained that she is careful about keeping her relationship private, but understands that publicity comes with the price of fame.

“It’s not what I signed up for, but I can’t really help with it when I was born,” she said.

“I want to be honest – I just want to write about what’s happening in my life as a 25-year-old girl,” she added.

“But it comes with the territory and I just have to say… okay!” she added.
