Sabrina Carpenter celebrates as her hit song Espresso reaches 1 BILLION streams on Spotify: ‘Holy s**t!’

Sabrina Carpenter was in a celebratory mood as she responded to her smash hit Espresso, which reached one billion streams on Spotify.

The 25-year-old hitmaker shared a story on her Instagram on Wednesday announcing that the single had reached the “billion dollar club.”

“Holy shit!!! Thank you for streaming,” the star – whose fans have criticised her 2025 tour ticket prices as “outrageous and horrible” – wrote, adding a heart emoji.

The catchy pop song was released in April 2024 as the lead single from her upcoming album Short n’ Sweet.

The song and its accompanying music video, directed by Dave Meyers, quickly became popular worldwide. The hit reached number one on the Billboard Global 200, becoming her first number one single.

In the United States, Espresso reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100.

Espresso is an anthem to confidence and irresistibility. The star compares herself to coffee and claims she is so stimulating that people lie awake at night thinking about her.

“Now he thinks about me every night, oh/ Is it so sweet? I think so/ Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know/ That’s that espresso of mine,” Sabrina sings.

The energetic music video features her and a male lead in enchanting scenes against the backdrop of a beach.

Espresso was written by Sabrina, along with Amy Allen, Steph Jones and Julian Bunetta.

She also has another hit to her name: Please Please Please, which became her first number 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song is the second single from her upcoming sixth album, Short n’ Sweet.

The album will be released on August 23.

Her five previous studio albums are: Eyes Wide Open (2015), Evolution (2016), Singular: Act I (2018), Singular: Act II (2019) and Emails I Can’t Send (2022).

Her new musical milestone comes after the star spoke candidly about her high-profile relationship with actor Barry Keoghan, 31, in an interview with Variety published on tuesday.

Please Please Please is her second single from her upcoming sixth album, Short n’ Sweet. The record is expected to be released on August 23.

The singer-songwriter has debunked fan speculation that her upcoming album could feature lyrics inspired by the Saltburn actor.

She also talked about what it was like for the Oscar nominee to star in her music video Please Please Please.

The star may have disappointed fans who were expecting more insight into her relationship when she admitted she prefers to avoid using topical subjects in her lyrics.

“It feels easier to write about things that happened in the past, or that haven’t happened yet,” she said.

While she may gain more clarity with enough distance, it appears the delay in the songwriting process has caused some concern in the studio.

“My producers are saying I’m beating a dead horse because I’m going to write a song three years after I last spoke to the person who inspired the lyrics,” Sabrina admitted.

Despite her claims that she is focusing on things in the rearview mirror, her actor boyfriend starred in the music video for Please Please Please, which features lyrics about an actor boyfriend.

According to her, Barry was very excited about filming the music video because he was already a fan of the song.

“He loved the song. He’s obsessed with the lyrics and I’m so grateful for that,” Sabrina raved.

She also took a moment to sing Barry’s praises after several acclaimed films, including The Banshees Of Inisherin, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Sabrina made a rare statement about her relationship with actor Barry Keoghan, 31, in an interview with Variety on Tuesday, and they will appear at the Met Gala in Manhattan on May 6.

“I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation,” the singer said. “So having him on screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and more special.”

Earlier this summer, Sabrina and Barry took their relationship to the next level with their red carpet debut at the Met Gala on May 6.

The lovebirds first met at the Givenchy fashion presentation for Paris Fashion Week in September.

However, the two weren’t linked until late last year, when they were spotted on a date in Los Angeles’s posh Brentwood neighborhood in early December.

Before his romance with Sabrina, Barry dated dental assistant Alyson Kierans for two years, with whom he has a son, Brando, who was born in August 2022 during the filming of Saltburn.
