A source said People Tuesday that the 25-year-old pop superstar and the 32-year-old Oscar nominee had gone their separate ways.

The news comes just a year after the A-list couple was first linked.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for both Carpenter and Keoghan for comment.

“They are both young and career-oriented, so they have decided to take a break,” the insider said of the formal couple.

Fans of the couple couldn’t contain their feelings and on social media they expressed a mix of sadness and relief about the breakup.

But another fan, who seemed pleased by the report, wrote: “Good because she can do much better.”
