Brazilian authorities are investigating the mysterious death of an actress and heiress who fell from the fifth floor balcony of her building.
Sabine Boghici, 49, was found outside the Rio de Janeiro residence on September 14 and rushed to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Authorities ruled the death a possible suicide after investigators searched her home and found a note she had left for her wife, Rosa Stanesco, who is now in prison.
Boghici is the daughter of one of Brazil’s greatest art collectors, Jean Boghici, who died in 2015. He was born in Romania in 1928 and moved to Brazil with Jewish friends in 1948.
She and Stanesco were arrested in August 2022 for defrauding Sabine Boghici’s mother, Genevieve Boghici, of $148.8 million in art, jewelry and money.

Sabine Boghici was incarcerated in August 2022 and was conditionally released in March for defrauding her mother Genevieve Boghici (right) out of $148.8 million in art, jewelry and money. His father was Jean Boghici (left), who, at the time of his death in 2015, was considered Brazil’s greatest art collector.
Rio de Janeiro Civil Police investigators said Sabine plotted against her mother in 2020 and hired a woman who approached her mother and told her that a member of her family was about to die.
The woman, who identified herself as a doctor, introduced her to two other women, a fortune teller and the mother of a saint, who agreed to the scam and convinced Genevieve Boghici to pay for a “job” to preserve the life of his daughter.
The plan seemed to work immediately and Sabine Boghici made it appear that she feared for her own well-being and charged her mother $1 million for 15 days for spiritual work.

Sabine made sure to keep her elderly mother at home and fired employees and caretakers.
But her mother sensed something was wrong in February 2022 due to her daughter’s close ties to fake psychics and suspended all payments.
Authorities discovered that Sabine and her accomplices stole 16 paintings by Tarsila do Amaral and Emiliano Di Calvacanti worth $145 million, jewelry worth $1 million and $2.8 million payments.
A court granted him conditional release in March.
Under the terms of her release, she was not allowed to travel outside Rio de Janeiro for more than 10 days and had to surrender her passport.
She was also prohibited from contacting her mother and witnesses and had to stay 1,600 feet away from her mother.
