Two men have been charged with pretending to be police and tried to fool a homeowner into letting them into his property so they could cut off his hands and tongue in exchange for money.

CCTV shows the moment when the men arrive at Canning Vale’s home in southern Perth, and wake homeowner Sabah Al-Salem from his bed.

Detectives have now filed charges against three men after the alleged mutilation plot on September 9, and Mr Al-Salem has been outspoken about the experience and demanding answers.

He told 7News the alleged incident “(felt) like we’re not in Australia, we’re in the Middle East,” and wants to know who would have offered $25,000 in exchange for his hands and tongue.

He said the men were dressed in black with gloves on their hands and masks hiding their faces.

At first, Mr. Al-Salem, an Iraqi refugee, did not understand that it was a trick. He asked the men to show him their ID, before one of the alleged fake cops handed him a card with a Western Australian police sign on it.

Sabah Al-Salem answered a threatening knock on his door in September, claiming that two men posing as police officers were there to cut off his hands and tongue (above: CCTV footage of the incident)

They reportedly knew his name and can be seen in the footage showing him what appeared to be a search warrant.

A confused Mr. Al-Salem looked at the document, still standing outside the front door of his house in sweatpants and slippers.

Mr Al-Salem then realized that the strangers were not the deal read and told the men to leave the premises as he called for help.

“You mafia, you are not cops… go outside,” he recalled saying.

Security footage shows the men doing the opposite and breaking into his home.

They carried their bag, reportedly filled with “torture tools,” including belts and a saw.

The two men allegedly pushed Mr Al-Salem home while carrying a bag of “torture tools.”

“People came to torture me, to cut off my hands… (one of the men) pulled straps out of his back pocket, he said to me ‘show me your hands, I want to tie them up,'” the Lord Al-Salem said.

Something startled the two men and they ran out of the house.

The men were charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, impersonating public servants, and intentionally aggravating domestic burglary.

Another man has also been charged with conspiracy to commit a criminal offence.

Police said they have not yet closed the case and more arrests could be made.

Mr Al-Salem said he needs answers and still has no idea who allegedly wanted to maim him.

‘Thousands have been paid to have me killed, who did it? The police still haven’t told me,” he said.
