Rylan Clark reveals he had multiple suicide attempts when he hit ‘rock bottom’ after his marriage breakup: ‘I couldn’t see, hear, eat, breathe or sleep’
Rylan Clark has spoken candidly about his multiple suicide attempts after hitting ‘rock bottom’ following the breakup of his marriage to ex-husband Dan Neal.
The 34-year-old TV presenter explained how he attempted suicide twice after reaching a point where he could no longer “see, hear, eat, breathe or sleep.”
Rylan and his ex-husband Dan split in 2021 after six years of marriage and the star had to take time out from work to take care of his mental health.
Rylan discussed his struggles on Matt Willis’s On The Mend podcast, saying he “lost himself” after the divorce.
He said, “I can’t remember what actually made me disappear from the person I knew.

“But the next thing I knew, I couldn’t see, hear, eat, breathe, sleep — I couldn’t do anything.
“And yeah, there were no signs that I was having a breakdown, there were no signs of — like you’re having a heart attack, you’re having a pain in your arm, you’re getting this… you know something’s about to happen.” happen, even if it is seconds earlier.
“I didn’t have the seconds, I really just had the impact. I call it the baseball bat around the face. And yes, I got very sick.’
He elaborated on his dark emotional state at the time, sharing how he went from “so strong” to the opposite.
He added, “I was so broken, to the point where I couldn’t physically dress, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t do any of these things.
‘I’ve tried a few times, to no avail – thankfully now.

He said, “I can’t remember what actually made me disappear from the person I knew”
“But I just remember going to sleep at night after doing nothing all day, living with my mom, scared to leave the house, not wanting anyone to see me — and I think that’s the fame side of things.
“I’d pray I didn’t wake up because then it wouldn’t be my fault. Does that make any sense?
“Every morning I wake up and there’s that three seconds of oblivion where you think it’s a dream, or you think it’s not real and then you remember, and that’s it for the rest of the day.”
