Rylan Clark Emma Willis and Oti Mabuse to travel through the Scottish Highlands for Red Nose Day

She is a fabulous figure who has made her home on the glitz and glamor of television.

However, Rylan Clark-Neal, TV presenter Emma Willis and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse announced on Friday that they are leaving the comforts of television to walk the Scottish Highlands, to raise funds for Red Nose Day.

The trio revealed at the BBC breakfast on Friday that they will spend three days and two nights trekking through the brutal landscape of the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands, immersed in a vast winter landscape with no tracks and few shelters.

The challenge will see the three celebrities take on a wild camp and, equipped with ice axes and crampons, battle the ever-changing elements to reach the top of Cairngorm Mountain.

Leaving Braemar next Wednesday, they will become completely self-sufficient, depending only on what supplies they can take with them.

No Mountain High Enough: Rylan Clark-Neal, along with TV presenter Emma Willis and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse, announced on Friday that they will tour the Scottish Highlands to raise funds for Red Nose Day.

The 34-year-old X-Factor contestant turned TV personality, who is already in Scotland to start training, doesn’t exactly look like a Bear Grylls-style outdoors extraordinaire.

Rylan said: ‘I’ve never been camping in my life. I have never slept in a tent. I have never worn camping clothes. The only camping I do is camping on a Saturday night!

He continued: I think the hardest part for me throughout this whole challenge is going to be… the whole challenge.’

‘I’m not going to lie to myself, this is not what I am used to, and this is not what I would choose to do. But here I am, and I just hope I get out of this in one piece and not lose any varnish in the snow.

The presenter, however, recognized, despite the arduous task ahead, the importance of the challenge.

He said: ‘I think the thing that will carry me through the whole challenge is obviously the girls and knowing that we’re doing it for a great cause. The better we do, fingers crossed, the more money we’ll raise.’

“Knowing where the money is going to definitely go will be my motivation when I’m ready to throw it all away and call in the helicopter.”

Challenge Accepted: The trip will consist of three days and two nights of wild hiking and camping in the brutal landscape of the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands.

Travel companion and TV presenter Emma, 46, seemed a little more optimistic about the journey ahead.

She said: ‘I said yes to taking on this Red Nose Day challenge for a couple of reasons. The first is when Comic Relief asks, you should always say yes. The second is that I love to do things that take me out of my comfort zone, and earlier this year, I promised myself that I would do the things that scare me.

Even the Voice UK presenter, however, saw that this would be no easy task.

It will be difficult. And the more I talk about it, the more difficult it seems. I think you have to switch your brain to ‘there’s no choice but to succeed’ mode.

“I was able to visit a Comic Relief funded project a few days ago that supports homeless youth and they were phenomenal, so they will be the people I have in mind.”

Money raised for Red Nose Day will help people battling the cost of living crisis and tackle issues like homelessness, mental health issues and food poverty in the UK and around the world. .

Professional dancer Oti, 32, said: “I love everything about Red Nose Day. It feels like the whole country is coming together to help each other and I feel like nowadays it’s really important that we really let’s help each other’.

She continued: ‘The money that we’ll hopefully raise will help a lot of people. I come from a country where we need a lot of help and being in this situation, being able to help in some way, for me is what I was raised for.

I’m so glad I don’t have to do this by myself. Things like this and challenges like this can get lonely, especially the fact that we’re on the mountain for three days. I’m so glad to have people who are positive, who are so kind, who are so generous.’

Every step of their adventure will be captured for a special documentary, produced by Twofour, called Frozen: Emma, Oti and Rylan’s Red Nose Day Challenge.

It will air on BBC One and iPlayer ahead of Red Nose Day, which takes place on Friday 17 March.
