Rylan and Conchita Wurst don plunging outfits at Eurovision semi-finals

For years, there has been a bizarre fan theory that Rylan and Conchita Wurst are the same person.

Still, the pair disproved the rumors as they separately exited the Eurovision 2023 Semi-Final in Liverpool on Thursday.

The couple – who bear a striking resemblance – were in sync with their outfit choices in terms of sartorial style, wearing plunging ensembles.

Rylan, 34, who co-covers the show on Radio 2 with Scott Mills, went shirtless under a navy blue Adidas jacket that he paired with skinny jeans and embellished trainers.

Conchita, 34, opted for a striking outfit, pairing a sequined plunging catsuit with a blue fur stole, and finishing the look with red pasties.

Two of a kind: There’s a bizarre fan theory that Rylan (L) and Conchita Wurst are the same person. Yet they refuted this when they left the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool on Thursday

Conchita, real name Thomas Neuwirth, made her big return to the Eurovision stage after her victory in 2014.

The dramatic performer – the work of Thomas – became an icon after her win on the show. Thomas has previously stated that he is not a trans woman.

He is gay and has also described himself as a drag queen. He uses she/her pronouns to describe his Conchita Wurst character, but he/him uses pronouns when referring to himself.

The artist was recently questioned about the bizarre rumors that she and Rylan are the same person and burst out laughing at the thought.

She told Metro, “But we’ve been in the same room multiple times!” I don’t know how that works.’

Conchita was full of praise for the BBC presenter, saying that he “did a great job for the Eurovision community as a presenter and as a host, and we are very happy to have him”.

Speaking of Liverpool, she added: it’s beautiful, I’ve never been here, it’s my first time. And to be honest, I hadn’t planned it!

“But it’s breathtaking, and the people are so friendly and the culture is so rich and the scenery is just beautiful,” she said, adding that she would “definitely come back.”

Loving life: Jedward caused a storm with Eurovision Song Contest revelers

During Thursday’s semifinal, Denmark, Croatia, San Marino, Romania and Georgia were eliminated in the battle for the Eurovision Song Contest.

16 acts gathered at the city’s M&S Bank Arena to compete for a place in Saturday’s grand final on Thursday, but only ten acts made it.

Among them was the Belgian Gustaph who, after his third participation in the competition, secured a place in the final with his track Because of You.

Hosts Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham and Julia Sanina turned up the glamor in the second round of the semi-finals as viewers went wild as Drag Act Queen Machine stormed the stage with their incredible performance.

Meanwhile, British entry Mae Muller looked incredible in a deep bright yellow and green dress studded with silver sequins as she cheered on the other nations from her place in the audience.

The ten acts that made it were; Albania, Cyprus, Estonia, Austria, Lithuania, Poland, Australia, Armenia and Slovenia.

They join Croatia, Moldova, Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republic, Israel, Sweden, Serbia, Portugal and Norway for Saturday’s main event.

Last year’s winner, Ukraine, automatically advanced to the grand final, along with the big five, consisting of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

In a rule change this year, the decision on who advanced was entirely up to the public, with national juries having their say during Saturday’s final.

The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest takes place on Saturday at 8 p.m. on BBC One.
