Rye shooting victim’s intimate prison chats with her jailbird lover just days before she was gunned down in botched armed raid on a home that left two dead
EXCLUSIVE
An aspiring model who was shot dead in a botched home invasion had been in contact with her jailer lover just days before the shocking attack.
Charlyze Hayter, 19, was killed when she and an unknown man armed with a gun broke into the Rye home of tradie Jackson Gilmour, 29, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula in the early hours of Monday.
It is understood Ms Hayter hit Mr Gilmour with a baton and demanded he hand over his wallet and other personal belongings as she rummaged through his drawers.
But the tradie shot her before he was in turn shot by the unknown second intruder, who then fled the scene.
In a video posted to Instagram just days before the fatal attack, Ms Hayter was seen gushing over a young man during a video call, apparently beamed in from prison.
The telltale sign of a ‘Corrections Victoria’ email address could be seen at the bottom left of the screen.
Tagped ‘Hi, I miss you’ and covered in love hearts, the man was seen covering his face before revealing a wide smile.
The smiling Mrs. Hayter beamed with joy in the small video window at the top of her laptop screen.

On Wednesday, Ms Hayter’s accomplice remained at large as police continue to search for him.
While Victoria Police declined to comment on the investigation into the fugitive killer, police sources told Daily Mail Australia his identity is believed to be well known to them.
It is currently unknown whether the inmate featured in Ms Hayter’s latest Instagram video has been released from prison since it was posted five days ago.
It was revealed on Tuesday that Mrs Hayter had gone down a dark path in her final years.
A lengthy Facebook post from her mother celebrated her daughter’s 16th birthday in 2021, but regretted not having the “right words to express how wonderful I think you continue to try to overcome your personal challenges every day.” .
‘It breaks my heart to see how you sometimes struggle with what’s going on in your head. I would do anything to make it easier for you,” her mother wrote.
‘But from the difficulties in life we grow and learn and it determines who we ultimately become.’
The post added: “I wouldn’t change a little bit about you.
‘I am extremely proud of you and the sensitive, caring, empathetic, loving young adult you are growing up into. You make my heart swell.”

On her way to ruin, Charlyze Hayter covered herself in tattoos and started hanging out with criminals
In recent months, she had covered her body with a series of large tattoos, including the face of the Greek snake-haired gorgon, Medusa, on her torso, above the word “power.”
She also had a large piece of text inked on her thigh, as well as face and neck tattoos, all of which were seen in increasingly revealing online photos.
Mrs Hayter’s grandfather Bob said her death had rocked her whole family, including her father.
“I loved her very much,” he told the Herald Sun. “This has upset the whole family.”
‘Charlie was a lovely girl, she probably went on the wrong side of the tracks, but we hoped for the best for her.
‘He’s absolutely devastated. It is very difficult to talk to him (Charlyze’s father) about it. At school she was a very smart girl. We had high expectations of her.’
Police have yet to reveal why Ms Hayter and her accomplice targeted Mr Gilmour’s home.
Friends of the beloved carpenter and plumber told Daily Mail Australia that Ms Hayter had been a friend of Mr Gilmour, who himself had shown signs of a troubled life in the months before he was killed.
On Tuesday, police were seen towing a Ford Ranger and Holden Clubsport – both expensive vehicles – from Mr Gilmour’s three-bedroom rented home.
It is understood Mr Gilmour had become isolated from his old friends in the months before he died, fearing he had fallen into a ‘bad crowd’.

“(His mother) doesn’t know that,” his friend said. “She thinks he just defended himself in a domestic violence situation.”
The friend said it would be news to him if Mr Gilmour had access to a firearm.
“I didn’t know he had a damn gun, that’s for sure,” he said.
His friend claimed Mr Gilmour looked ‘different’ when he last saw him alive.
“I saw him about a month or two ago. He wasn’t the same,” he said. “You don’t want to associate yourself with that stuff.”
The friend declined to speculate what he believed Mr. Gilmour had become involved in in his final days alive.
“I don’t want to get myself in trouble,” he said.
Neighbors said cars regularly drove to and from the property.
After breaking into the property, Ms Hayter allegedly hit Mr Gilmour with a baton and demanded he hand over his wallet and other personal belongings as she rummaged through his drawers.
Mr Gilmour then shot her and was himself shot by the male intruder.
Mr Gilmour and Ms Hayter were treated by paramedics but both died at the scene.
The dead tradie was known to police, court records showed he had appeared in court several times this year for two separate cases.
One of the cases was before the Dromana Magistrates’ Court just two weeks ago.
