Ryan Seacrest returns to his old stomping grounds with a visit to Live with Kelly and Mark
Ryan Seacrest returns to his old place with a visit to Live with Kelly and Mark and jokes: ‘I just got out in the nick of time’
It’s been a little over a month since Ryan Seacrest was away from Live, but on Thursday he returned to the show he co-hosted for six seasons.
Kelly Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos stepped into the seat he left on April 14.
Seacrest stopped by the studio to promote the American Idol season finale, which airs on Sundays.
Ryan joked with the hosts, saying, “There’s this fascinating thing that I’ve been experiencing called ‘time,'” the 48-year-old said, adding, “I don’t know if you guys know about it. The alarm clock rings in the morning. It’s a gentle nudge.’
He then joked about his relaxed morning routine, saying his alarm goes off at “11 a.m. or noon, something like that.”

He continued, “I’m walking through the woods… and I’m looking for the coffee beans. I take them, I harvest them, I take them back, I roast them, I milk some almonds and I make a latte.’
Ripa, 52, asked Seacrest if he lives in Colombia now, while Consuelos, also 52, told him about all the great segments he’s been missing so far, including “ballroom dancing, menopause myths, and couples therapy.”
This prompted Seacrest to joke, “I just got out in the nick of time.”
He also admitted to watching the show, saying, “I have to say, I watched – you guys are so amazing. I love that Mark does the banter. I like the promos I see. I like the game.’
“You love not having to do it anymore!” Ripa teased.
She also commented on Thursday’s show that she thinks Seacrest is relieved he doesn’t have to do all the promo shoots and episodic games featured on the show and in the commercials.
And then things got weirder with the married co-hosts playing a game of guessing whether Seacrest had “started an animal movement class” or whether he was studying “dendrology, the study of trees,” with his newfound free time.
Seacrest then got down on his hands and knees and began crawling around the studio.

The Georgia native announced in February that he was stepping down from the show he co-hosted for six years.
American Idol will broadcast the three-hour finale live coast-to-coast on Sunday with performances by Idol alumni Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard, as well as judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Keith Urban, Kylie Minogue, Pitbull and TLC are just a few of the artists scheduled to play in the finals before the latest American Idol crown.
