Ryan Reynolds is dapper in a velvet tuxedo & Catherine O’Hara stuns in red at Canadian Screen Awards

Ryan Reynolds and Catherine O’Hara turned heads on Friday when they attended the Canadian Screen Awards in Toronto.

The 46-year-old Vancouver-born actor – who paid tribute to friend Rob McElhenney earlier in the day – looked dapper in a black Ralph Lauren tuxedo, white shirt and black bow tie.

And for her part, the 69-year-old Schitt’s Creek star shone in a striking red long-sleeved dress.

Both entertainers took home awards – Ryan the Humanitarian Award and Catherine the Icon Award.

The official website describes The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television as “the largest non-profit professional media arts organization in Canada.”

The father of three, who is married to actress Blake Lively, was typically handsome with a full beard.

His dark hair was cropped short on the sides with some texture on top.

The honoree posed for photos on the red carpet when he stopped to give personal interviews.

Later in the evening, he also took the stage with Everett Ho and Lisa Charendoff from the SickKids Foundation.

Ryan’s expertly tailored jacket was made of plush velvet and he added pleated slacks, finishing with shiny black dress shoes.

Catherine was just as eye-catching for the special night as she arrived with her long blonde bob styled in a center parting and flirty curls.

Her red fireman’s dress had a stand-up neckline and a modest train that dragged behind her on the carpet.

The Home Alone actress was joined by her longtime husband Bo Welch.

Ryan took to Instagram after the event to show his gratitude for the organization

Writing to his 48.7 million followers on the app, he said, “Thank you @thecdnacademy for this incredible honor tonight.

“The day started with a visit to @sickkidsvs with the ever magical @lcharendoff – and ended in a chic tuxedo, surrounded by some of Canada’s brightest, most innovative artists – all under one roof.”

Finishing the message, he proudly gushed, “I was stunned and emotional as hell.”

His upload, which included a slideshow of professional photos from the occasion, quickly garnered more than 180,000 likes from his loyal fan base.

According to company3.com the Screen Awards, also known as CSA, annually celebrates “artistic and technical achievements in Canadian film, television and digital media productions.”

The special awards precede the annual week-long event that recognizes the best in homegrown film, television and screen-based media.

In addition to honorees Ryan and Catherine, Simu Liu was also honored with the Radius Award for Global Success.

Former CTV host Lisa LaFlamme received the Gordon Sinclair Award for her “outstanding work in broadcast journalism.”

And newsreader Pierre Bruneau received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The nominees for the 2023 awards ceremony were announced on February 22, 2023.

Also in attendance were writer-actor Bilal Baig and actor-dancer-choreographer Ellora Patnaik.

Baig wore their shiny black hair in a sultry updo with wispy and voluminous curls.

They dressed in a low-slung silver dress with puffy long sleeves and a band that accentuated the waist.

Ellora turned heads in a gorgeous bright red saree with decorative beads sewn throughout.

Sarah McVie, Dani Kind and Catherine Reitman of the drama comedy Workin’ Moms were dressed to the nines for the gathering.

McVie wore a black dress with a sheer panel that exposed her chest and long-sleeved arms.

Her bright blonde locks were styled in a long, loose braid that fell over one shoulder.

Meanwhile, her costar wowed Dani in a pinstripe gray and black pantsuit that she paired with a white crew neck shirt.

Her short, dark hair was combed back for a strategically tousled look that was effortlessly cool.

And Catherine opted to wear a jewel-toned navy dress with a thigh-high slit and flattering draping.

Andrew Phung, Rakhee Morzaria and Kardinal Offishall also attended the annual awards ceremony.

The cast of the popular television series The Porter was dressed in their best as they accepted the award for best drama series.

Olunike Adeliyi looked fashionable in a bold, asymmetrical red dress designed with one shoulder.

Show creator Arnold Pinnock looked handsome in a navy blue and white pinstripe suit.

Mouna Traore looked remarkable in a strapless, flowing black dress and wore her hair in a beautiful updo.

British-born Aml Ameen kept his look classic with a black tuxedo and white shirt combo.

And actor Ronnie Rowe Jr. stepped out in a blue suit with a black turtleneck underneath.
