Ryan Mason fires back at Jurgen Klopp after insisting Tottenham should ‘play better football’… and claiming he would never criticize another club for being ‘the way they are’ in final battle of words

- Ryan Mason insisted he would never tell another club how to do it
Tottenham interim boss Ryan Mason has hit back at Jurgen Klopp, insisting he would never tell another club how to play.
Klopp was critical of Spurs’ tactics following last weekend’s dramatic 4-3 win at Anfield, telling Mason he had to be ‘worrying about other things’ following his frustration that Diogo Jota was still on the pitch to claim the winner to score.
The Liverpool manager insisted Tottenham “must play better football” and “can’t just counter-attack”, which frustrated the 31-year-old caretaker.
Mason said ahead of Saturday’s visit to Crystal Palace: “First of all, I respect and admire Jürgen Klopp. I also respect Liverpool Football Club.
“But honestly, in my current situation and whatever happens in my coaching career, I don’t believe I’ll ever be in a position where I can sit here and criticize another football club for the way they do things.

The Tottenham boss said he would not be in a position to criticize another club even 20 years from now.
“Look, I will not create a war of words. That’s my take on it. I don’t think that will change in 20 years.
“I don’t think I will ever be in that position or deserve the right to criticize another football club for how they want to try and win the game and how they think the best chance for them is to win the game at that point.” time to win. time.’
Mason further revealed that Oliver Skipp was inches away from a serious eye problem after Jota caught him on the head with a high tackle at Anfield.
“Skippy is a very, very happy lad,” added the former Tottenham midfielder.
Mason said Oliver Skipp was lucky to come away from a Diogo Jota challenge without serious injury
“He had a few wounds in his head, needed nearly 10 stitches, and we’re talking inches away from an eye problem.
“I think the general feeling this week is that we’re really thankful that Skippy is okay and nothing serious.”
Spurs captain Hugo Lloris is out of action this season due to a thigh injury. Mason said, “Hugo is out for the season. We were a bit afraid of that at first.
“We’ve done some more tests and he won’t be playing for us again this season.”
